Tough one, as we are talking a substantial amount , most buyers would/should run a mile if they check and there is outstanding finance. Even asking them to settle the amount direct to the finance company will make someone think it is dodgy!

Many thanks for the reply, of course there are other options but they don't offer a realistic price, however that is why I'm asking so I can protect both the buyer and myself as I would be open from the start. Do you buy rrs as a garage or private buyer? RRS |

We buy any car seems a desperate measure as they offer much less. I can understand the worries a buyer would have, however is there a way I can take a bankers draft for my part and the other for the finance company? RRS |

Muddy wheels thank you for the reply, I was hoping to advertise on here but I don't want to brake the forum rules as I can't definitely advertise for sale if it has finance? It is my prude and joy and because of my wife being made redundant and our second boy it is our only option for the time being? RRS |

Just be careful in any case, because as far as I know even if you owe a quid on finance the company still owns the car. Possibly the two bankers drafts would work, but if it was me and I was satisfied that all was kosher , I would want to speak to the finance company and pay it there and then by switch again only if it was a reputable (dealers??) finance co, like black horse, not some company I'd never heard of.

Yes I would feel the same the remaining amount is with Lloyds and it was purchased from GC motors but I don't think that would be secure enough if I was a buyer, I guess it's the dodgy we will buy any care. RRS |

On the plus side, the settlement figure will be quite a bit less than you think, as you won't be paying X month/ years interest

I think a lot of buyers will be prepared to explore the finance thing for the right car. I've bought a couple with outstanding finance and just paid the finance off myself over the phone then paid the balance to the owner. Some people will be wary but if they are that worried they wouldn't be shopping in the private ads anyway.. Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

I may be in a similar situation soon as my work circumstances have changed, meaning I'm having to drive for work more than I can really warrant keeping the RRS for - plus the expense rate I get doesn't actually cover the fuel outlay!

Have purchased plenty of commercial vehicles with outstanding finance, just paid the finance company over the phone by card, got an email confirming they no longer have a financial interest, given balance to owner and Bobs your uncle.
