England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Unbelievable!

So today I blast up to Warwickshire to take part in so e JLR market research concerning the new Discovery Sport along with the replacement for the Defender.

To cut a long story short - unimpressed with the Discovery Sport, but very taken by the New Defender.

So I get home and think to myself "I'll give the boys on the Defender forum a heads up on what I found out today"....... What response do I get? Well apparently I'm a Land Rover plant trying to sell the new Defender to those who don't like it or want it.

Censored the lot of em!

Jim

Jim,

More information on the Defender replacement pleeeaase... Thumbs Up

Regards their reaction, no surprises there... I loved my Defenders when I drove them, and recently was considering buying a 90 as a 3rd car/ toy. However, after driving a mates new J Censored p for a couple of days, I realised I can't live with such a basic car. Ride was terrible, its cramped inside, poor AC, little or no sound/ heat insulation, etc. etc... Really opened my eyes.

Yes it is iconic and the current shape will keep that when the new one comes. But it can't keep up with the current crop of utility vehicles on performance, features, safety or price. If JLR want to stay in this market then they need to produce a vehicle that can compete with the likes of the VW Amarok, etc. I'm sure a "lifestyle" version will be available to go against the J Censored p but hopefully a very basic version with no more electronics than the existing Defender, save for safety features....

And whats important if they want to cover more markets and therefore customers is that it comes with decent petrol and diesel engines as well as manual and automatic...

I could go on but this is a RRS forum not a Defender forum Rolling with laughter

Cheers

Wouldn't take it personally. Seems a few defender owners also own FFRR's, so the snobbish blinkered assassination squad remain the same, god forbid you mention non genuine alloys and you will be banned.......... Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!

Blinkin Heck, just nipped over to DefCon2 to see what all the fuss was about, these guys are stick in a field somewhere back in 1956!!

i seem to have the same opinion as you about the current Defender, i was thinking i quite fancied an Overfinch or Twisted performance version to replace my sport, just to have a bit of a fun change! might be ok for a days fun in the mud, but you couldnt live with one. being 6'2" and carrying a couple of stone more than i should , i couldnt get in the blasted thing!

im hoping the 'new' one comes with air suspension and as many electrical aides as possible!! Very Happy

cheers
