Wow someone got out of bed the wrong side.

You don't seem to be able to accept that people have different opinions on the questions asked, it also seems your brain can only resort to childish remarks.

The ops said nothing abouth needing his car detailed or that he has a worn tyre hence I see no relevance to it. If he had stated I'm selling the car and only have enough money to have a dealer service done and leave a worn tyre or have an Indy service and replace the tyre that therefore changes the whole question.

Let's say we did a survey and only 2% of people (let's say a low number to make the point) said it must have full main dealer history, you are missing out on 20 people of every 1000. Granted it's only 20 people but that's maybe the difference to selling quickly or not.

You could carry on and say only 2% want a modified sport so therefore that's another 20 people lost.

Another 2% don't want a sunroof.

Another 2% don't want a black sport.

Therefore as a collective you have limited your market.

I like to modify my cars but I always make it so it can be put back to standard thinking it will sell better but I'm limiting my market as someone might be on the look out for how I'd modified it to.

If people want to save money on not having the dealer service it then that's up to them but not dealers are Censored .

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

my god i've been laughing all morning and this has just made it even funnier, "you don't seem to be able to accept that people have different opinions on the questions asked" but you also write "I despair with some people. We're not talking business men or about vac's!", so you obviously don't accept alternative opinions Question Question

keep responding. i need more comedy on my day off...

btw if you think that 2% is a statistically significant number then you obviously know nothing about statistics. great example. maybe leave numbers to someone who knows how to use them Whistle

Must be why I stack shelves eh? Rolling with laughter

I despaired over the irrelevance of facts been added to the op's question not people having different opinions.

I used 2% as a guide as most seem to say it's not important seen as no surveys have been done.

Re: Do I Dont I Service Dilemma

Bit of a dilemma after just being quoted £646.66 for a TDV8 59 plate, 41k service. Do I go to the dealer as already has full dealer s/h, or do I save a few quid and go independent. Will I have issues when I come to sell it, which will be this year at some point. Been pondering over this now for a week...thoughts anyone

To make my opinion clear I'll start again.

I don't think you will have any issues selling the car if you get the next service done by an Indy or even kwik fit but there are people out there who will only buy cars that have had main dealer history therefore not having main dealer history you are reducing the amount of people to buy the car.

First 3 years I've used main stealer. Going forward I plan to use an Indy but a LR specialist. I'll continue to keep every bit of paperwork. If I ever sell it (vs keep it for the wife / donate to nephew) I'll advertise it as "Full service history (main dealer / specialist)" and include a photo of the pile of paperwork.

I'll never get a good price for my car anyway because it's a funny colour! Laughing L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

I like Nara Bronze. Thumbs Up

I'm not buying at the moment though... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Bottom line JPR1 is you have to be happy with your decision and I have found you can't put a price on your own peace of mind, regardless of whether others agree with that decision or not. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

+1 for Nara Bronze Thumbs Up (funny all of us appreciating NB have different coloured cars for ourselves).

I would also go to main dealer for service. Not because it is guaranteed to be better but to try minimise any warranty wriggle room (if you have extended warranty) and to not give any additional bargaining leverage to a prospective buyer. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
