Do I Dont I Service Dilemma

Bit of a dilemma after just being quoted £646.66 for a TDV8 59 plate, 41k service. Do I go to the dealer as already has full dealer s/h, or do I save a few quid and go independent. Will I have issues when I come to sell it, which will be this year at some point. Been pondering over this now for a week...thoughts anyone Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8

I'll be in a similar situation in September as mine has full main dealer history but has double the miles you have on.

Personally I think I'll get the main dealer to do it hence I don't look like I'm tight and saving in the wrong place, an Indy will more than likely do a better service though Big Cry

I faced your dilemma a few years back with SWMBOs Freelander and went with the Indi - he was a lot cheaper and an ex-LR technician who set up on his own. The FL was out of warranty and chatting to the guy he knew his stuff so he got the job and I had no regrets Cool

I never took the last sport to him as it was under warranty but the LR dealer dropped it off the ramp so maybe I would of been better using him and would probably still have the MY10 now saving me £25k to change Big Cry

I have had poor service or damage from every franchised dealer in my area but LR warranty means using the Indi could be complicated so I keep going back Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I have just had the same dilemma but when I spoke to LR they advised me because my car was over 4 years old they could do a 4 Plus service as the mileage was only 23000 giving me the LR stamp in the service book and cost £290 Very Happy Very Happy with no issues highlighted

I'd go with the indy but with a reputable one, one specializing in land rovers and, as muddy says, one who knows his/her thing. i honestly believe that in most cases a FULL service history is worth just as much as a flrsh, especially if you have kept receipts of all the work done and the mot has no advisories. dealers rest on their laurels and that dealer stamp is no sign of exceptional/superior quality.
unless of course your warranty demands it?
I asked my garage if they follow the actual maintenance schedule from land rover. it's an indy near me and they deal exclusively with land rovers. top notch Thumbs Up Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

I can highly recommend Brian at green oval in morley (Leeds), I used him for all my full fat work after the warranty run out. I know him through other sources too and is a good guy in general.

So far the few bits mine needed doing I have been able to do myself.

I know the LR dealer mechanic that would be doing mine so I'll have to wait till it's due to get a price.

But while I'm asking I take it you alternate between a and b services? Mine had the b service last time.

What's the c service?

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

I just organised a service with my local dealer at £225.

I have a 2.7 HSE on an 09 plate with 46,000 miles.

The receptionist said its a special deal because its out of warranty and over 4 years old.

I just paid just 340 euros for the 9 year, 140 k service at the Marbella official LR dealer.

When I made the appointment for the service, they handed me a unlimited complementary service card, stating 30% off on labour and 20% off on parts and oil. Very Happy

This offer is to keep the older LR´s coming in for service at the dealers. SW

Go back to the main stealer and tell them the other quote and see what they can do. You may end up with a much easier decision. MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

Thanks all, just waiting for another dealer to come back to me who has an offer on at the moment. As a long term customer with my local dealer I should not really have to ask for any special deals they should offer me them up front considering the money I have spent with them over the years. Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8

Just booked mine in for its 7 year service and got a free MOT chucked in when I asked.

Interestingly the other local stealer I asked a price off, told me the cam belts needed changing on my TDV8. I despair sometimes……... FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Free MOTs worry me - nothing in life is free so I suspect they will always find something wrong to cover the cost unless they are a registered charity Whistle

The best place to get an MOT IMHO is the council depot - they don't do repairs so have no reason to find a fault Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
