I was going to say of I sold the standard ones and get the led ones that are already tinted, less hassle and fit for purpose.

You can buy a film of ebay called fly eye which has tiny holes in it and stretches quite well

Thanks a million I have ordered it and should be here monday !

Today I sanded down the paint back to the clear plastic, polished it and its looking better than before. In fact im gonna take the other one off and polish that free from scratches.

This whole sanding isse got me thinking. You see on youtube people sanding the plastic first then spraying. I dont think you should be doing this. It leaves a very misty effect that isnt ideal. Im gonna try the film now but ill be making sure instead that the surface below is completely spotless.

Updates to follow. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Other option is to use a heat gun to warm up the silicone around the lens cover. It should pull away from the main unit.

Then spray inside the lens cover and re-seal so you still have the polished plastic outside but the inside is tinted and the paint will not be affected by weathering.

I did this about 7/8 years ago on my first car, will try and dig out some pics. LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

Pics as promised

Obviously a lot darker than the 'smoked' look you are after but as you can see from the 1st pic, the outside still has the glossy finish of an OEM lamp as the tint is sprayed inside.

2nd pics shows that using proper tint spray lets a good amount of light through, even when it was tinted so dark.

I used a heat gun to separate the lens cover from the unit but I remember a few lads sticking them in the oven at a very low heat to loosen the sealant!

youre right about the weathering matey and now youve mentioned it i may well open them up. but i think ill go for the light film this time. i suspect this is how baxc's lights were done...film stuck to the inside.
cheers for that ! Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Just had a look at mine and they have masked the reflectors off and sprayed the outside just as i done myself on my old ones. If the film doesnt work this is prob the best way to do them.
