My 3.0 Sport is 3.5 years old with 20k miles. It's just gone "Restricted performance" with an amber engine block warning symbol. No noises, leaks, issues, oil is fine. I'm presuming it will be fine to limp to a garage.

So.... Thinking of going independent and wondering if anyone has experience of Brookfields in Barnet?

I got the same thing a couple of weeks ago when I was stuck in a long traffic jam and thought I was being clever by turning the engine on and off periodically. It cleared after I left it a few hours when I got home.

I left it one week but it still came on the next time I started driving. I'm booked in at Brookfields and we'll see what they're like and what the issue is. Brookfields Barnet were unable to diagnose the fault I had and politely referred me to a main dealer even giving me the name of someone to speak to. I suppose fair enough as it was lighting up the diagnostics system like a Christmas tree and they were concerned it was serious enough to warrant Land Rover contributing to costs. (the person Brookfields referred me to could not really help, so it was a bit awkward. Plus that dealer had a loooong lead time so I took it to another dealer. And turns out it was not so serious, "just" a seized turbo actuator).

One fella at Brookfields was friendly but did not inspire bullet-proof confidence due to not being able to diagnose the fault above. Whilst the other was very aloof and I felt I was getting in his way by being a potential customer. I have not been tempted to go back for anything. But I cannot comment on the standard of their work which could be good and certainly a lot less than £165 an hour at the main dealer!

I would love to find a blinding independent specialist in North London. It would be great if you could be a guinea pig with your cambelt work with these guys and report back!  L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Try Kings Langley Land Rover (independent) Satisfied customer and actually owned by lookers as well. Works out at half the price of the local main dealer also owned by lookers I.e. Chipperfield.

I've spoken to kings langley they quoted £1140

main dealer without any discount at stratstone is only £799

Asked Brookfields Barnet to check the condition of my bushes the chap put it on the ramp got a hammer and start to hit them, then said there is movement and I should replace them. I just wanted to get the Sport of the ramp and get out of there. From my understanding they specialise in the repairing older models.
I thought the correct the method was to take the drop links of then check them. Asked the dealership the reported back that they were fine when I had it serviced.

Yes it would be really good to find a independent specialist in north London, if anybody finds one please let me know. Spoke to Lancaster land rover Welwyn garden city a few days ago they seem to come across really well over the phone. Much more professional then Land Rover Barnet.
