headlamp adjustment for Europe

When looking through my 2013MY manual, this jumped out at me:
HEADLAMPS - DRIVING ABROAD
The headlamps are adjustment free, with a
beam pattern that eliminates the need to
mechanically adjust the lamps or add any
external obscuration decal

Now on past models i know you adjusted the level in the lights...have i missed something like its talking about cars fitted with the adaptive headlamps or has something changed Mike

Mike,

I Wasn't aware of this, and seeing that I'm setting off for France shortly then I'll be checking my instruction manual.

Thanks James

If you could let me know - we are off to Germany in October, hence why i was looking...the only adjustment comment now states that...it would be great if true (a nice 13 MY feature i would say)!!

(have a nice trip to france) Mike

I'm on holiday at the moment, but have an email from LPR HQ confirming that 13my have a flat beam Confused so do not require adjustment. I'm told that some Jaguars have had this for a while.

I'm glad you spotted this! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!? Woof woof.

Have a good holiday.

Interesting. Confused
Surely though there must be some sort of left/right bias, you may not blind people coming the other way due to the 'flat' beam, but you won't have a clue whats going on near the kerb Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Hi,

Do MY2007 headlamps need adjusting and if so how - manual seems to indicate a 'lever' to make the adjustment?

Thanks,
Simon

My RRS doesn't need adjusting either - older style lights threw light upwards to nearside and this had to be prevented abroad by switch or masking light. New lights have a flat beam and when indicating the cornering lights come on to assist Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Hi Muddy,

Did you have a MY10 with the lever?

Can you recall where it is and how to do it?

Thanks,
Simon

HEADLAMPS - DRIVING ABROAD
Headlamp beam adjustment
When travelling in countries which drive on the
opposite side of the road, a lever within each
headlamp unit can be used to alter the beam
pattern.
To access the levers you will need to remove
the headlamp units. See REMOVING A
HEADLAMP (page 79).
Move the lever to the down position when
driving in countries where they drive on the
alternative side of the road.
Remember to return the lever to the up position
when driving on your usual side of the road.
Note: If the auto high beam feature is enabled,
you should configure the system for the side of
the road you are driving on. See VEHICLE
