Any Sport registered before March 2006 ( BELIEVE ITS THE 31st ) falls into the lower road fund licence band. Use the search function on the top banner - type in a key word. This should give you all the info you need regarding a new purchase 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Peachy is spot on apart from the cut off is 23rd March 2006. So it is possible to get an 06 plate car on the lower bracket but there can't be many of them about. General rule of thumb is if it's an 06 onwards then it's the higher bracket. |

Please don't take it personally, but even the higher tax bracket is only equivalent of four tanks of fuel so if you are on a budget, this car isn't for you my road tax is £1600 for daily driver 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Hi simple1. My budget is around 15k for a RRS and the 2005 /2006 falls into that bracket so it's a bonus! Thanks for your concern tho |

The older these cars are, the more they take to keep them up together, tyres, servicing, replacing bits that fall off, the list goes on, so road tax is probably the least expensive annual cost, hence bringing it up. You obviously have your eyes open so good luck in finding a good car to enjoy. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀 TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!! Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈 Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱 Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜 |

Like any car, buy the best you can afford. A well maintained car from a forum member has to be better than a used car lot in a back street.

Didn't mean to scare you off, just to keep your feet on the ground so that you don't end up buying a nightmare or money pit. They are great cars, just take a grown up to view so you don't get caught and now you are aware of some of the issues, you can ask if things have been done before viewing a dog! 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Anything could go wrong at any time but as time goes on and mileage goes up things will wear out and fail. These are big and heavy cars so they will put more demands on their components. They are very complicated bits of kit too, with air suspension, computers and sensors for everything etc.
