Should dealer replace rear bushes on new used car purchase?

Picking up my car tomorrow which has had an MOT done today...an advisory is that there is a slight play in the rear bushes.

Should my 28 day warranty cover these if they go completely? If not how much would it cost to get them done when they do fail?

I do plan on taking out a warranty with Warranty Direct shortly too...would they cover this after there 90 day honeymoon period?

I would make sure they are changed before you take it! your car has 8 wishbones (2 at each corner) with 3 bushes in each. most places replace the wishbone at £170 odd plus fitting as it is not worth just relacing 1 bush in case the others go soon (new bush £50) i had 3 go recently and was charged £700 for that and some other bits and pieces

cheers

I asked if they could be done he's not too keen on that, said it was only an advisory.

I have already put a deposit down now so not sure how much power i have to push him to get them done.

Pushed the dealer to get them done...he said i tell you what we'll call it a day then and i'll give you your deposit back...

Slightly gob smacked but I don't fancy spending £19,000 with someone with that attitude after that.

So now back on the hunt again!

A no-brainer of course you should expect a visible fault to be rectified before taking delivery.

Think yourself lucky you found out what poor service you would have received before you parted with your cash - plenty of other cars about.

I would say you had a lucky escape with that, as it is never just 1 bush that goes! I take it wasn't a LR dealer that you were buying from, they would have noticed that before sale and adjusted the price to cover that! It's a pretty common fault!

Cheers

Definitely was! I think I rushed into it when the excitement took over Smile

Their ad said it had 70k miles on, it had 77, it also said it was taxed until end of august, it had none.

They also only provided 28 days warranty.

So yes, I am actually glad I got out of this one!

No it wasn't land rover, it was an independent garage in Mansfield.

Strangest thing was the salesman said he was happy that the sale wasn't going through, very confusing Confused

Trouble is, next guy that sees it will be told it has a full mot, and won't see the advisories! Let's hope the next guy knows his stuff!

Best sticking to an LR dealer or at least a good independent specialist!

Cheers

Can you post a link to the RRS so we know what to avoid?

Big shiny wheels. Rusty disk hubs and poor rear disk/pad wear. Priced at 20.5k now. Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Not confusing. Because he had you pinned as a problem punter. Whistle

Having sold vans in the past, I can tell you there's two sides to this type of thing. The trade view is often that an advisory is a non issue - its passed the test and its not a new car. So some wear and tear is to be expected. If you want faultless, buy new many say.

In the van job, I would have also refunded a punter who was insisting advisories be done. Because 9/10, that same guy will be in your life over all kinds of little non-things he notices later on. Not saying you are that guy at all you understand, but that will be how the salesman views it.

He will think he got off lucky by cancelling the deal, just as you did.

Although I do think its a stretch labelling them "crooks" as you did above. Its their car, they can ask what they like for it and sell it to who they like.
