That's what I thought and to put tin hat on it, there isn't a camera warning sign within four miles. Think I will return the NIP and ask for a court hearing, more money in the solicitor's pocket Big Cry 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

^^^ OP was clacked at 84 above the National limit - no sign is not a material fact; it would only be relevant if there was a lower limit than the general for that type of road.

What's the defence going to be; Ok no sign but you still shouldn't be doing 84 anywhere !

I think your mis-reading things Dr - I was referring to Simple1s post not the OP. In Simples case the lack of a visible sign to advise of the change from 40mph to 30mph must be material in his defence. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Nice one Ady, Bow down not sure why it chose capsize orientation . The road actually goes from 60 to 30 about the Privet hedge but not visible even beside it. Just read in local paper that they caught 430 speeders that week so £100 x 430 = a lot of fookin money. Will do a freedom of information request to see how much Avon and Somerset plod have raised in the three years since the local travelling community scrapped all the signs in the area. The speed and road names have been replaced, the rest they "forgot" Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

You're right - sorry Thumbs Up

The problem with 30mph limits is that they are often merely imposed by the distance apart of the 'Street' lights !

According to the Speed enforcement unit at Avon and Somerset, the hedge cutting is the responsibility of the local council, and that there is no legal requirement to put camera signs up. If you read their own legislation, it states that signs must be placed and even goes on to give measurements and placing so I will return the NIP with photos and a letter stating they haven't conformed with the legal statutes and see what happens. 2x TDV6. I know, I often find myself looking down side streets for 30mph signs as this confirms the speed must be 40 mph on the main road !

I've been looking for camera detectors recently but non are Mac compatible so I cant update the database if I bought one Big Cry Will have to rely on the speed detector in the passenger seat……….. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

I took photos day after nip arrived at work, was driving our pickup at the time. I have a very good detector in RR and my daily hack which as you say needs windows to update. I know the area well and that day had been stuck in some terrible traffic as the bypass had been closed after a major accident, so doing 34 in 30 at 5.30 on Friday night was a miracle, and I did see the camera van and look down at speedo but suspect I was already zapped by then. The van was parked nearer than photo and hidden behind the camper you can see on left rather than where it was parked three days later.

I remember seeing a camera van on a local bit of straight - the only safe overtaking spot for several miles naturally. The little camera sign they put out for the time of their session was positioned so that it faced the van! Anyone driving towards the van wouldn't see the camera logo on the sign unless they looked in their mirror after passing the sign. Devious! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

In the legislation, it states very clearly that stealth covert actions might be perceived as money making and not safety related, local paper actually states 3456 motorists across Avon and Somerset were reported last week alone. That's some revenue and pays weeks salary bill and contribution to the police federation hotel Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Is it surprising the 'boys in blue' no longer have the support of the British public they once enjoyed?

It's this kind of caper and smoke and mirrors act that really Censored motorists off

Good luck with your dispute Simon, a good brief should shoot holes through the police case.... Stu

Bad luck Simon - have to say I never intentionally speed but constantly worry on roads I don't know that I may get caught out with all the different speed limits now - once upon a time you knew it was 60 or 30 and could be pretty sure which by your surroundings but now it is a mine field especially if you're looking for road signs, listening to the sat nav and the OH telling you the sat nav is wrong Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
