I assume some of the comments above are wind ups

Last time I checked Bank of England puts serial numbers on notes and people take steps to avoid muggings so not sure by what stretch banks can be blamed unless they put cash machine down dimly lit alley without cctv

People take mars bars sure - they cost about 50p but shopkeeper knows it happens so keeps an eye out plus cctv sometimes - again no way can mars be blamed. Headlamps cost £1000 each so if you compare that to say a tv of same value it will normally have alarm, security chain, store detective, cctv, etc

According to police, dealers and press it is more than 1 or 2 but as long as it's not me that makes it all right then - eh

If someone smashes my window and the alarm goes off I would be then claim on my insurance - if they removed £1000's of lights and grille in seconds without any damage or alarm I want answers how this is possible

There are two lots of people to blame and they are the theiving and the honest people who buy them. No market no thefts. I shall be looking into a proximity alarm that releases a pack of hungry dogs.

I think I said this right at the beginning of this thread or one like it anyway. There is a market for these parts and it's not a market of LR's making. Indeed, one could argue that those on here who have made their older RRS look like newer ones are as guilty as any - a trend has been started and these stolen parts are the cheapest way for some/many to follow that trend. Not saying anyone on here would buy stolen parts but if you've bought cheap second hand parts from ebay then you may have been part of the problem.

Also, those who have a shunt and would rather fit stolen parts from ebay rather than do it correctly through their insurance company.

Lots of people are guilty in this whole scandal but LR isn't one of the guilty parties. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I think you owe me and a few others an apology

It's took me 3 years & almost £7k to get my Sport to where it is now & members on here have played there part - both with hands on work & technical know how !!!

What has happened to this country. When I first married we never used to lock the doors on our house when we went out. Leave the car unlocked sometimes with the keys left in the ignition. There were of course thieving going on but not to the extent of today where you wonder what is the point in having nice things. If you go out for a meal you sit there and think is someone trying to steal my car, key it or reverse into it oh happy days. Buy a £200 pound banger and have a free mind

I think you missed the bit where I said no one on here would use stolen parts.

I was suggesting that the trend to facelift old RRS to look like later versions is one reason these parts are stolen, sold and bought. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Your analogy doesn't work. Security cameras, store detectives, chains would all be the equivalent to you parking the car in a monitored and guarded place with a steering lock or wheel clamp on your vehicle.

As for cash, Bank of England are as much to blame for you being robbed of the cash as LR are for your while being robbed while in your possession. BoE put serial numbers on bank notes, does that stop them being stolen from you when you are mugged? Do they ever get recovered? Extremely rarely! You answered it yourself when you said "people take steps to avoid muggings" that's right, not the producer of the thing being stolen but the owner of the item takes steps and has responsibility. With money you don't wave it around in a dodgy area, leave it in plain sight of people you don't trust etc, with you car, there are plenty of options where to park it, most choose the cheapest or most convenient, I for one park 5 mins further away at a manned car park as they have yet to have an incident of theft due to the attendant monitoring it. I know it's not always possible to do this, but it is also not the fault of LR as to what criminals do and the lengths they will go to.
