after just over 4 years, i have had the dreaded knocking and vague steering on my car. LR dealer is sitting there rubbing their hands as i have been quoted:

2 front lower wishbone bushes
1 rear upper wishbone bush
1 passanger track rod and 4 wheel alignment

how much?

£1588!!


i am going to take it to an indy, anyone have any prices to aim for?

I am VAT registered, but cant do mobile wheel alignment

I have a MY10 is this something I should be looking out for?
what are the symptoms?
Would they be covered by my LR warranty. 3.0 HSE RRS Stornaway (current)
Evoque Prestige Lux (gone)
3.0 a Disco 4 (gone)

It's a pretty common fault but less so in the 2010 onward, I think they modified it again in 2012, but some still have problems afaik. I doubt warrenty covers it as it is a wear and tear item. When you run over a pothole or drain cover you will hear or even feel the knocking, and in my case I think the steering is less sharp, but that might be in my head as I know the bushes are shot!
Most seem to go within 2 years, I think I am lucky at 4!

A bush is £50 odd quid, most places seem to want to replace the wishbone, as there are 3 bushes, and no knowing when the others will go..... Most of the job is labour and 4 wheel alignment

Can you give me a guide price for parts and labour for replacing 2 front lower wishbones, 2 rear upper wishbones and full alignment.

£1000 inc VAT and alignment, using all genuine parts

Aftermarket arms are available and will reduce the cost to £800

Had all the above work done for £1300. Car drives like new and dead straight.
