Tyre Size

Speaking to my local LR dealership in regard to AT's, the choice based on my current profiles i could get:

General Grabber 255/50/R19's AT (not the AT2) or i could move up to

General Grabber 255/55/R19 AT or Pirelli Scorpion ATR 255/55/R19.

As the vehicle came fitted with 255/50's as standard on the 19 inch platform, is the
255/55 within tolerance and specification, or is it going to affect any warranty claim
that LRA look to get out of.. be interesting to hear from Pete at LR if this is an
acceptable tolerance for the vehicle

Thanks Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Mine has only ever run on 55 profiles and never had an issue with any suspension related claims. From memory I believe you can 'tell' the car through the infotainment system that it's got 55's on, but on doing a GPS speed check all the increase in profile has done is make my speedo read accurately.

That was in the UK of course, LRA here do appear to be significantly poorer than the mother country at dealing with warranty claims and customer service attitude, so for piece of mind I'd check with your dealer. They don't recognise my car anyway though, being the nasty cheap import that it is Wink Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

Like the registration Mike.. i got a quote from a LR dealership for both the 50 and 55, but based on the
fiasco on the other LR website a bit reluctant to go to anything not stated on the vehicle tyre info plate. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

The plate's a very recent addition, present from MrsMike Cool

It's pretty hard (in my view) for LRA to dispute a claim with 55's given that LR themselves use that size on the Sport at the experience centres and it being the standard fit on the Disco. That probably wouldn't stop them trying though Rolling Eyes Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

Mike had a check with Opposite Lock as well, they stated they have fitted 255/55's to a number of Sports
and Disco 3/4's on 19"s and it seems pretty common.. so will go for the 55's to give some improved
protection. They also stated that the majority go for General Grabber AT's not the AT2's as this has little
effect in terms of road harmonics. Will give them a go..

Not sure of the position over there but here 55 profile on a RRS has been classed as a modification by insurers and warranty claims have been refused where fitted as it does not meet technical details in handbook/on plate Confused

I recall one owner bought a nearly new RRS G4 from a dealer with 55 profile fitted but it came with a set of 50 in the vehicle - when he took it for a suspension claim it was refused because the 55 were fitted despite being supplied like that by LR. Not sure if it was him or another owner swapped the sets and claim was approved by another dealer Rolling Eyes

55 is standard for D3/4 Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I thought 55 was the standard fitting for the G4 19 inch rim ? I will triple check with the dealer (LR franchise),
Opposite Lock and the insurers.. I know of such a bad case here at the moment based upon someone moving
to a larger tyre set Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

55 was the standard profile for the G4 Sports. Mine has had that size fitted for over 90k miles.

Zilch, possibly up for Cape York next year, can't commit yet though. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

I was told the RRS G4 was fitted with the 55 for the challenge but only 50 were approved for warranty, etc so they were sold with a set of each Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

However, I recall several versions of the RRS handbook mentioning the 55 profile as suitable for winter tyres, so how could they refute it?

There was a mention of 55 profile winter tyres in some handbooks discussed on here and it turned out to be a misprint - had it in my MY10 handbook Confused

interesting muddy as my MY10 book states 255/55/19 for winter tyres, did they have send out an amendment.
My LR dealer is totally confused and not sure if this would be an issue if they supplied and I got into subsequent
hassles with the insurers ... Rolling with laughter Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Sorry to say LR in there wisdom didn't send out a revision to existing owners - just revised future handbooks and website Rolling Eyes

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic19985....nter+tyres

Online tyre checker here - https://www.landrover-tyres.com/ Thumbs Up

55 profile will also make speed and mileage inaccurate by 4.8% Confused

Some owners do use the 55 profile off road then swap back for road use and others run them all the time - personally I stick to the plate sizes on door because I don't need the hassle from insurance, warranty or Police accident investigators should the worse happen - I have enough Censored to deal with Embarassed

Since joining these forums in 2007 I have found many owners on here are more knowledgeable than the dealers about there products Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
