Im sure the OP is actually from a fair number of years ago.

I think warranty length doesn't equal how good a car is - in fact some of those 7yr Kia warranties are actually rubbish as there are loads of limits...but wouldn't any business minimise their risks?

At the end of the day you can always get a lemon - the more you hunt for problems the more you will likely find...whats key is for every 1 complaint there are probably 10-20 happy owners so actually however bad the problem is, however annoying or unfortunate - it means nothing.

A friend has a Kia 4x4. Nice enough vehicle but not my cup of tea. He had an electrical problem with it after about 12 months. While it was at the dealership he was put in a brand new one to keep him mobile. After a while they realised it was going to be a problem to sort it so they helped him in to a replacement vehicle for, I believe, no cost. Not sure LR would do any of that... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

All brands do this. The warranty dictates that they have to rectify manufacturing defects and if they can't they would have no choice but to put you into another vehicle. I know both BMW and LR have done this. Not sure what makes you think that they wouldn't. They have a legal responsibility to because of the manufacturers warranty.
