on... unless you intend to do a lot of off-roading in which case "off" gives you more ground clearance...

The steps make very little difference to ground clearance in most cases. They can protect the door from damage even though they are a bit flimsy compared to a proper slider/tree bar. If LR didn't insist on putting those silly bits of plastic trim on the bottoms of the doors then you'd be better off without the steps off road. As it is, the steps can prevent loss of the trim panels.

How did that happen? Never found that to be the case with mine - or maybe it has and I've not noticed (quite possible )

My own position on the steps has changed with ownership. My RRS came with them fitted and I intended to take them off. However, after a brief time with the vehicle I found them to be really useful. I'd stay sidesteps are a must.

1) They make the body look lower.

2) They stop me sliding off the drivers seat hence not wearing the leather bolsters.

3) Park in supermarket car parks in off road mode and they might save your doors from getting dinted.

Picking my 1st RRS up tomorrow, it doesn't currently have side steps, in your recommendation where would the best place to get them from, I've seen Powerful UK's fitting video and it doesn't seem too difficult!

Would appreciate advise please

Picked up my 2008 RRS today I had them fit steps as part of the deal, they transform the look of the car for the better
