The most silliest question I'll ask... How to park...

I finally bought the sport today! Loved the drive home in it, but its now parked on a steep hill at my door, I keep looking at it freaking its not parked right, I put it to P and turned off the ignition. Its sitting there. But surely I need to engage the parking brake?

I'm worried - but thinking the P does it all.

Hello designboy.

You dont have to worry, but to be sure, apply the brake.

The "P" locks the gearbox, and since the car has
permanent 4 wheeldrive, both front and rear axle is
prevented to move..

In order to lessen the stress, both on You, and the lockingmecanism.,
apply the park brake..

So as not to put pressure on the "park mechanism, which can then be hard to release. Stop, foot on brake, into neutral, apply handbrake (EPB), release brake, let handbrake (EPB) take the strain then apply park. Thumbs Up

Thanks all, she is parked and I've now learned how to do the most simple task! But it had me worried, I needed to consult the user manual on the brake to make sure it was on Wink

Just to figure out how to stop the back wiper wagging and I'm set, super delighted with it too Wink

Yea been driving manual for the past 15 years, first time in an automatic - I miss gears already, but it seems the nice lazy way to drive. Gone are my petrol days in v8's - Time to take it slow - though this diesel v8 seems to have a bit of poke.

I'm spending the night now reading the manual on not being manual. Thumbs Up
