Speed Camera alerts on SatNav

Hi guys - I need help if possible. i have just taken delivery of my new RRS SDV6 and to my shock and horror read in the manual that the SatNav system does not support speed camera detection. Is there a solution to this? Any ideas out there? I live in Belgium and travel a lot through Europe with my car so these are necessary for me. Thanks

I run a TomTom Go in parallel which provides much better navigation and live traffic response as well as speed camera warnings and, in Italy at least, average speed display on those new pesky measured sections.

It's illegal in France of course to pin-point specific cameras but there, it just warns of a generic "danger zone" which is allowed. Mark

You should be able to load a file as personal Points of Interest.

You can get a list from the web.

I think I can import files - I have to check this out as haven't had the car for more than 12 hours. Any idea from where I can find such a file for the Meridian system on the RRS?

I subscribed to these guys...

Downloaded file to a USB stick and then stuck that into the RRS

Thanks - it sure does look a bit daunting for me as I am a newbie to this. Also I cannot find the Meridian system. Can you direct me to which file I must download and if this is compatible with the Meridian system? Thanks for the patience.

It does work from PocketGPS although I find with limited use. The reason being that all the POIs load ok but in order to have any kind of notification that you're approaching a camera you have to have a route programmed in and the voice guidance on. Only then does it bong/chime (in one of only 3 simply awful doorbell sounds) when you're close to it. I rarely have a route entered as usually know roughly where I'm going and I certainly don't use the voice guidance part so the only use for having the POIs for me is if I use the satnav screen as part of my instrument reading 'scan' to see if there's a symbol approaching. SOLD - 15 plate Estoril SVR

SOLD - 64 plate Aleutian Silver Supercharged

SOLD - 63 plate Corris SDV6 Autobiography

Meridian make (or at least design) the sound system, not the satnav which I think comes from Denso though where the mapping comes from I have no idea. Mark

Thanks mate - it works a treat and also reduces the sound of yuour audio when the chime comes on. There are only 3 chimes to choose from and ALL suck badly. Would be better if the chimes would be replaced with the sound of a camera shutter like I had in my Volvo xc60 but at least it works well. Also the faster you drive the earlier the chime goes off. Good work and thanks.
