Diagnostic tool

I will be picking up my 2010 TDV8 this week and the dealer says they do not have the "software" to activate remote climate. I know that I can go to an indie to get this done but I wanted to ask if someone could please guide me as to which not too expensive diagnostic device I could buy that would enable me to do this myself and leave me with the capability to check the inevitable fault codes in the future and maybe to open up some other options within the cars CCF.

Any advice on this will be very much appreciated.

Very Happy

Personally, the IID BT version will do everything most people will ever want/need, as well as much, much more. This is what I predominantly use, despite also owning a Faultmate MSV2, and a Hawkeye Thumbs Up

To see what the IID is capable of, visit their website, and select the correct model in the functionality list: http://gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool.html#c309

Thumbs Up

Many thanks Disco_Mikey, this is very helpful.

Will the IID BT version also let me activate remote climate and any suggestions where to buy from?

As DM said it can be used to activate remote climate. I have done it. You obviously need the hardware in addition to software activation. I bought my IIDTool from here: http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/integrated-int...27525.html Chespest and next day courier delivery.

Thanks both, this looks like my next purchase. I have spoken to Nick at Yeovil about the receiver and antenna and will get the remote from the auction site. I should just about be sorted by the time spring comes!

I am also seeking a diagnostic and coding tool for my RRS. I had a look at the link to IID above but could not find information on programming the suspension height, 3 flash indicators and enable clock on dash.

Question for Disco_Mikey (or anyone that might know). Do you have any experience with LAND ROVER MONGOOSE PRO or/and 4Dcan Diagnostics - RSW Solutions.

The IIDTool can be used to calibrate the suspension height and it can be used to set the heights so you could set it to run lower if that is your wish. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Suspension lowering, 3 flash indicators, and clock on dash can all be done with the IID Thumbs Up

No experience on the Mongoose system, or the other one.

For 95% of the people on the forum, the IID or similar will be more than enough for them Thumbs Up

By Mongoose system I meant the following item:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-Land-Rove...19eaf4b621

Plus, which IIDTool should I get: (I have a 2005 RRS Supercharged)
http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/diagnostics-wo..._3260.html

Thanks

If you are happy using the cruise control buttons, then you want a DA6403

If you want the Bluetooth version, with the fancy app (when fully released) you want the DA6411

Thumbs Up

I agree with Disco_Mikey, the Gap IIDTool is ideal for most, plus it's so small, mine lives in the glove box. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

As DM said the IID Tool is all you need for 95% of the tasks. If it can't resolve a problem or do what you want it probably means you should take the car to the garage. Or at least that's the way I see it as I'm not a professional mechanic... Wink

The IID Tool lives in my car so it's always to hand, I've used it to drop the suspension, flash various ECu's to give the 3 flash, clock in dash etc. Also used it to change the radio settings to allow more FM stations to be heard.

I currently use the non BT one, however, will upgrade to the BT one as I will have a BT v4.0 tablet installed soon so can use the fancy app when its ready Very Happy

Cheers
