They will work without being enabled, but PDC and rear fogs will still work if a trailer is plugged into the car. Enabling them in the CCF will prevent this

Think you will find that the lights will work but all the other functions linked won't. As Mikey says, and he is after all, a grown-up in these matters , all the rest of the functions won't.
If you want your gearbox to know its towing, parking sensors not going off and fog lights not coming on when towing, ( which is a pain if you have something big on the back) then they do need activated. I'm near Longleat at weekends or Avonmouth during work time and happy to do this for you it only takes couple of mins and our coffee machine is pucker........  2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

They may have already been enabled, and the electrics subsequently removed, before the whole was sold on, for instance

I have put electrics on a 55, 58 & 61 plate and PDC and fogs remained enabled when towing ....
