Going on a car trip to Scotland next week with my wife and our TDV6 RRS.

There are some excellent roads in Scotland, but it depends on what you want.
The A82 across Ranoch Moor to Glen Coe is a beautiful and dramatic stretch of road, whatever the weather.
The entire length of the A9 all the way to the top os Scotland is worthy of note. But if you are going all the way to teh top, you would probably want to leave the A9 at Latheron and follow the coast to John O'Groats. If you do, be sure to get out of your car and take the short walk to Duncansby Head, which is the real tip of Scotland.
From there, you can drive across the top of Scotland and down the more dramatic west coast. You will probably be able to count the number of cars you come across on one hand. Wink
Don't be afraid to follow some of the minor roads into the mountains, there are some real hidden treasures.
Enjoy your holiday.
Paul

PS. Be sure to take plenty of insert repellent during July-September.

Dunnet Head is the most Northerly part of the mainland.

Sorry to be a pedant.

Dunnet Head Lighthouse marks the most northerly point of the Scottish mainland - being some 2.35 miles North of John O'Groats. Only 6.75 miles across the Pentland Firth lies the nearest point of the Orkney Islands.

Thanks guys. Keep it coming.

We're taking the ferry to Newcastle, and then going straight to Scotland.
We don't have any plans, except T In The Park next Saturday (by the way, where is that festival?)

We're looking for scenic roads.

Keep it coming!

Thanks

Claus

And, No, I'm not the English trainer. I'm the Norwegian Viking.
