Apart the aesthetics, how deep is the etching on the plastic?

Can it be removed by sanding, scratch remover, liquid plastic? '08 RRS TDV8

Well, it depends how deep is the etching and the position, you probably not going to put it in the middle of the light.

I had a relatively deep scratch on one of my light and was able to make it invisible by just sanding it with sand paper and did it quickly.

I guess that given the cost of the lights, the thieves can spare 30 min/one hour working on them. '08 RRS TDV8

^^^ Surely the simple aim is to deter the opportunist who'll hopefully see the etching and choose to pass it by and go for easier pickings elsewhere.

we fit tamperproof screws, coupled with number plate screw caps to deter a repeat theft when people have been recovered in with no rear lights.. cheap and easy peace of mind... LAND ROVER TECHNICIAN

Have now put discreet etching on my lights and grill

Some may wish to consider marking tops of lights and grill (on lip under bonnet) with something like this
