Buying Advice RRS 2009/2010 3.0 TDV HSE

Smile Hi Thinking of changing the wifey's 2006 Shogun. She's had it virtually from new - done 75K miles & she absolutely loves it; never been a problem faultless. No serious off-roading but she does need to tow horse trailer & cope with muddy fields, so nothing too extreme. Only criticism is that the Shogun is so under powered & residuals are very dire.

So, we are thinking about chopping the Shogun in for a 2009/2010 facelift 3.0 TDV HSE. Wondering what advice you may offer. What have they been like to own/drive etc. Any main faults I should check or work that should have been carried out etc?

Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Santorini Black

Hi there,

I've had my 2010 SE from new, not had any bother in 4 years apart from replacing a door latch (expensive at £200, but that has been my only expense) mine regularly tows (horse box/motorbike trailer) and you wouldn't know it is pulling anything, even on wet grass! Mine eats front tyres at the rate of 12000 miles, but that's probably as 80% of the time it's in town (and average 24mpg) servicing once a year costs £400-600
Best car I've ever owned!

Cheers
Dave MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged Wink ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps!

Gone: a comprehensive list of imprezas and a Merc ML AMG

Smile Thanks - sounds good. Will go out this weekend to take a look & also at Disco4 & X5.

Codfather - see you have 20" alloys - I'am guessing with low profile tyres - is that also a reason for the high tyre wear? On the Shogun we have standard tyres on 17" alloys & get an unbelievable 50,000+ miles out of them! I guess you can get mud tyres for the RRS. 2001 Black Porsche 911 turbo

Having come from MY10 I can confirm they all have command shift so think Simon means paddle shift Confused

I loved mine but did have some niggles before dealer spoiled it completely and it had to go Sad

Things I would look for in particular are -

Listen for knocking suspension on uneven surfaces which can be cured with replacement bushes to anti roll bars.
Get a good warranty.
Look for full service history.
Check underneath for signs of off road damage.

If you find a good one then just grin, relax and enjoy it - try not to worry about all the negative posts or it will drive you crazy Wink Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Cheers. Very similar then to Porsche ownership. If you have a NA Porsche there are worries of engine failure etc.

i think its mostly down to town driving, power steering and parking knacker the life out of them, i would think 24-25k miles would be normal , and yes there are plenty wheel / tyre options, but even with 20s it rides nicely and is no bother pulling a horse box to a grassy Gymkhana!

cheers
