I know it isn't excatly law abiding and maybe fighter bomber owners will have more experience of it than the TDv6 brigade but how many know that there is a 4th suspension setting other than Normal, Access and Offroad?

In standard form, it lowers at 100mph, which is a pointless speed to be altering the suspension. Surely, if it improves stability at 100mph, it must also improve it at say, 60mph ?

The ride shouldn't get any firmer, the system will simply let air out until the required ride height is achieved. That's probably over simplifying it, but you get the idea. Paul |

But doesn't less air = less pneumatic shock absorbing? Same principle as lower profile tyres = less air for bump absoption! No Lower profile tyres are firmer because of the shallower sidewalls and not because of the amount of air inside them, assuming the same internal pressure. The suspension isn't "compressed" to make it lower, which would imply a higher internal pressure thereby resulting in a firmer ride. Less air is pumped into the system, so the internal pressure remains constant. I hope that clarifies it for you. Paul Paul |

I've archieved top speed recently on a highway (230 km/h - 140 mph) but still it was "Standart" on the display.. I drove at this speed for some time (about 3 or 5 mins) - no effect. On the big RR you can lock the suspension in highway mode after you archive 100 km/h (62mph).. and i could feel the difference - the car was a bit more sporty then in standart (18sm against 22sm in standart). 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500

I don't think you would get a visual or acoustic confirmation of "high speed height" displayed on the LCD upon reaching 100 mph, at those speeds I am sure Land Rover decided it was better not to distract the driver with bongs and messages appearing in the instrument clusters...

No. A while back there was news of a tuner coming up with a module to enable lower height at lesser speeds, can't remember which one but I think it was either Kahn or Arden... Haven't heard anything since, until Speedinnovation posting a couple of days ago (see Maintenance & Mods.) |
