Well it's not to bad but it is a tight squeeze. Do your self a favour and get some new bolts before you start. As i can promise you you will drop one or two and not find them as they will be up on the sump guard.
Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Chris.

I know this is old and been discussed a million times before but Range Rover manufactures were mad for doing this.
Owner of a Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 and recently spoke to a reputable Land Rover Specislist. As I myself am a mechanic by trade I read about the performance ECU upgrade for these motors from 150kw to 200kw. I
I ended up getting this done at a very reasonable cost and what a unbelievable amount of extra power and torque the 2.7 TDV6 has got. I'm impressed.
But whilst speaking to the LR specialist he told me they sold the exhaust to throttle body block off kit. This kit stops the exhaust emissions from recycling into the throttle body at the top of the motor underneath the plastic engine cover. I purchased the kit and couldn't wait to go home and install to my RR Sport.
Upon removing the factory exhaust to throttle body pipes I knew the throttle body/butterfly would be a little dirty with grime and black exhaust residue but to my surprise inside the throttle body where the factory pipes connect I stuck my finger in the home and scrapped an unbelievable amount of built up oil/sludge and small metal almost ball bearing type material sitting inside the plastic OEM throttle body. I was shocked.
Such an expensive prestige motor vehicle with such stupid design and engineering stuff ups. After half am hour or so of extensive cleaning, scraping and making sure there was no gum/metal like foreign matter inside the throttle body making performance and throttle response worse and worse as time rolls on not to mention metal type ball material waiting to dislodge and enter the compression chamber and detonate the motor by either scoring/damaging piston, bore/sleeve on the block, or even bending valves/damaging cylinder heads.
I was astonished to see the irresponsible set up of the motor and how many peoples engines were damaged because of this flaw. Please if you own a Land Rover/Range Rover 2.7 TDV6 go get the block offs today and unlock hidden performance- ie fresh clean air not recycled diesel smoke and prevent your engine for DETONATION as it is imminent. Especially if your mechanic or yourself clean the TPS sensor at the top like this forum tells you to. You might spray throttle body cleaned into the TPS placement hole like I did and dislodge these foreign materials. Thankfully my ones stayed put in the thick amout of black sludge build up.
Being a mechanic it looks like the metal ball material came from the exhaust to throttle pipe as my one looked deteriorated and not right. Hope you check this on yours ASAP as this is truely unbelievable. A BIG heads up and good luck. V6 has got. I'm impressed.

We'll I just blanked my EGR valves off using the 2 blanking plate method. (£5 on eBay) It only took about 45 minutes. Although there was not a problem showing on dash I can already feel things are running better and showing 2 mpg more around town. So today is a good day and I never have to worry about EGRs again Very Happy Very Happy

Hey, i have a warning light about the EGR valves, i think mine need changing. what do you mean when you say blanking the valves?

Jersey 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey

Ive only been an RRS owner since monday but ive spent the last few weeks reading through loads of posts regarding all sorts!

My question is, am i able to tell if my EGR's have been previously blanked? I have asked the previous owner and he said he hadn't had it done. It a 2006 2.7 TDV6.

Im not getting any warning lights or troubles but from what ive read i seems the best thing to do to prevent any damage/problems in the future?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile
