I have had a few gps antennas failed lately in the shark fin aerial and was looking around for a cheaper alternative even the breaker yards want £50.00 for a second hand one, so this is my fix for £6.49p.

Hi Flack I have problem with my satnav. you cannot program route on postcode as only numbers appear on screen. top corner of screen shows GPS with red cross through it, so I take it no GPS, but when driving pointer shows you moving so I thought this would be controlled by GPS??

Yes its your Gps aerial that has failed, the pointer will still move but not track on the map or follow a road because it does not know where it is.

If you get the part all the work is done above rear luggage area in the roof space. Remove aerial solder in new part and replace. do it in the dry as water would come through holes in roof. It is a bit awkward locating nuts but I am 22 stone and not so agile but done it ok.

So we just get a new aerial, cut the wire from it and solder the old wire onto the new aerial circuit board? So removing any casing from the new aerial we just want a new board basically?

I fitted printed circuit board into where old one was removed, drilled a hole large enough for connector to go through so didn't cut wire. Secured in with hot glue gun. I think (a while since I done repair).
