Hi everyone recently purchased a range rover sport hse 2006 model dealer told me he would change timing belt , not sure if he did is there any way of knowing if he did or not would be grateful for an answer cheerz

Was it a LR dealer ?

Do you have a service book? You could ask for confirmation of the service work done in writing to keep in the car's records.

I had the same mate. He did stamp the book but it's always niggling in the back of my mind- did he didn't he.

No it wasn't a LR dealer have already asked for paperwork for work done but haven't received yet book stamped and worded timing belt done ; butiI'm not sure it has been

If in any doubts, have it replaced. It's not an expensive job, in the grand scheme of Range Rover ownership.

However, a re-con engine from LR is currently £6,500 + VAT. Plus fitting...

Understand what you're saying mikey but I bought the car on the reassurance he would do the belts so if the belts fail surely I have a case if the dealer has stamped the book and wrote the words timing belts done

How that would stand up in court, I am not qualified to say.

They may fail 2-3 years down the line, by which point, the dealer has no responsibility for duty of care/fit for purpose etc

Tell me mikey when the belt gets changed is it one belt or a series of belts

Personally, I replace the front belt, tensioner and both idlers, rear belt and tensioner, and the aux belt

I don't use genuine parts, I use OEM Dayco kits. Same parts, in a different box, without "Land Rover Tax" added.

I charge £300 + VAT.

This includes my travelling, and replacing the front belt, tensioner, both idlers, rear belt and tensioner, and aux belt

DiscoMickey - I guess you should do a deal with a local hotel /B&B and members can have a break in Scotland while booking you to change belts.

There is a nice Travellodge place a 5 minute walk from the house. Good food too
