Hi all,

I have had my 2006 RRS SC for a couple of weeks now and I wanted to ask you a question about the suspension.

When I park my car up, after a few hours / overnight the suspension has lowered quite a bit.

When I next get into my car and start it up, it raises up to standard driving height.

Is this normal or should it stay at the same height as when I parked it?

I am a bit concerned that there is a problem or leak somewhere.

Hi Martyn05,

For what it's worth, my mrs used to notice that ours does, usually after driving and parking, switching ignition off, it would drop slightly.
I've had the compressor checked on mine and it's fine, maybe someone will be able to shed some light on it.

It's not unusual for the RRS to drop overnight. THe vehicle wakes up every 6 hours and attempts to relevel itself - as the engine isn't running it levels itself downwards. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

mine started doing that just before the suspension compressor failed due to overworking,but mine was doing it more on one side caused by a leaking pipe fixing on top of the airbag,would have been a very cheap fix if i had realised before the compressor burnt out  silverRRS 2.7 TDV6 22"WHEELS FULL COLOUR CODE,STEPS,REMAP..gone

Im in the same situation, I have not had time to check pipes yet, but im toying towards Height sensor or Air valve.
Height sensor because i have a red indicator light on on the display.
when you select access height is there any warnings flashing?

I am going to try the different heights when I get a minute and see if any warnings come up.

set it at standard height and remove the battery overnight

if suspension has not dropped then more likely a height sensor

if suspension has dropped on the front only = possible front valve block
if suspension has dropped on the rear only = rear valve block

you may have to follow all air pipes and check for leaks with soapy water but try the above first and narrow it down a bit

Chris that photo was from launch day (literally in this case!) in 2005 when a person with shiny new S/C decided to test it off-road on the mud of the River Thames banks somewhere near to Chelsea at low tide................. Unfortunately they had standard tyres on and the treads became slicks and then the tide came in and the owner had to be rescued from his new car by the RNLI inshore lifeboat.......... They also had to mark the submerged car with a buoy so river traffic didn't hit it. It was recovered at low tide the next day but was completely wrecked........... And just after launch in 2005 there was a waiting list of over 9 months for an RRS! The incident featured heavily in the papers much to the embarrassment of the owner. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My last RRS 2007 dropped after 3 days but more at the back than the front.
As your started and it would return to normal hight.
I used to lower it when parked and it stayed there,
The car will not level any lower than it can go, when you start it and get to 5 mph it will raise to normal hight.
I only had the car for about 6 months and never had a problem with it when driving.
Not a fix but it worked for me for the 6 month. Lot of Landcruisers now sold

This was happening to my 06 hse and found a leaking air line that runs from front valve block to passenger side bag, replaced and all sorted.
