Last night I ran the tank down as much as I dare, got to 5 miles on the range readout.

Largest amount to go in at one pit-stop, just over £75. OOf, you've gotta love this car.....

Tomorrow is it's first off road foray on the shoot, should be fun to see the reactions to it from the 'old school' Range Rover owners.  L319 D4 HSE

How many miles to the tank did you get  Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Phew, Glad mines a diesel. 26.5 on a 600 mile round trip and very pleased with that too. .
Currently showing 25.3 all short runs and town work. Her indoors has the car today. Will be full of decorating stuff. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Still on topic.... how many of us bother to pay the extra for BP Ultimate ?

I did religously in the Audi's but so far simply not bothered in the RRS. I took a close look at my history in doing so & thought whats the point I've changed my car every 12mths so why pay extra for something I'll never see the benefit of. From personal experience I could not see any increase in performance or mpg when using this fuel in the Audi V8 S4.

When I had my M5 I religiously used Shell Optimax, as you were only supposed to use Super Unleaded, and it had a massive effect on the performance of the car, mind you, it was designed from scratch to run on higher octane fuel; however, the RRS doesn't need Super, we pay way too much for petrol as it is, why line BP's pockets even more??

Heres one for you. A friend of mine is fortunate enough to have a fleet of cars that would make David Beckham flush . I went out with him to fill the Bentley up and was surprised he was putting regular 95 Ron in it His fuel is free, why was he doing this The same reasons we have just covered RRUK

I have tried the better diesel a few times in my VW T5 van and the difference in performance was very noticeable - but then I'm carrying 3/4 tonne and it's top spec engine (174bhp 2.5ltr 5cyl), so I don’t hang around.

I've never bother yet in the RRS. I was only filling up this week and noticed that the price difference was 4p, which I think is less than it was. When you're spending £65+ on each tank now, then another £2.50-£3.00 isn't going to break the bank.
Bu then saying that, if you were to spend that £3.00 on a magazine and a mars bar at each fill up, then I'd get much more pleasure from that than the thought that the more expensive fuel might be making a slight difference to the cleanness of the engine! Matt

RRS ownership for 1 yr, then D3 for 2 yrs. Then cut back to old bangers and working my way back up through two Peugeots in 6 months. Now got Saab 9-5 2.3t and enjoying the performance!

make that £3 or so every fill up, a couple of times a week over a year....

soon you're looking at the fat end of £300 extra, which I doubt the Ultimate fuel pays back.

The RRS Petrol engines are not designed to run on 97 or 98RON fuel. Specifications state to use 95RON unleaded in both the 4.4 and 4.2

So, why bother paying more? Just drive in a more efficient manner! That's what I do. L319 D4 HSE

I am fortunate enough to live where the government doesn't take the p*** with tax on fuel so at 0.91 Euro cents a litre for Diesel it won't hurt me too much to fil her up !

£75 isn't that bad to fill the the tank... does the SC have the same size tank as the diesel? Last time I filled up mine (from about 10 miles left on the range display) it cost me £88 quid... but then diesel is about 3p per litre more expensive round here than 95RON. I do hope Mr Brown is happy in his life

Yep my largest fill up to date has been £85 too, was a bit shocked as it was only three weeks into ownership, but saying that i have levelled out consumption and mileage so i only stick in £30 a week or so..

has anyone tried seeing what happens after the miles run out on your range? On my car now it just says low fuel but i still have 3 gallons left in the car.
