Yorkshire to disney paris in the sport

Hey all,

Just thought id share my crazy idea to drive from yorkshire to disney paris, spend 5 days there in the parks then head towards a beech somewhere for a week..... Oh and ill be towing a tin tent too Rolling with laughter

Now ive only been towing a caravan for a year now (so far not in the sport) i know the sport will have no issues towing my caravan all that way..

So a few things i need are hi-viz, warning triangle, gb stickers and swap the beam over (now only had a quick look and its just a case of moving a lever over?) oh and a lot of fuel for the tdv8 Thumbs Up

I need some help with a few things now.

1) Ill be landing in calais at 21.05 and id like to find somewhere we can jump in the caravan for some sleep, is there a services i could use local to calais? i dont think id get on a site at that time.

2) Any suggestion for the beech part of our break? Im just after a nice beech with things to do for the kids, the weather should be ok as im planning to go the end of august.

3) Again on the return trip ill be landing in dover at 22.15 so id like to find somewhere to put our heads down for the night.

Apart from that i think im sorted.

Yorkshire to France would be a lot better for you if you could miss the drive down to Dover

Have a look at prices from Hull on the over night ferry, wake in the morning all refreshed Thumbs Up

England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Don't forget 2x breathalysers 2x hi viz not one. Can't help with the beach side of things we did the Normandy war thing not really the sunbathing thing down to the burgundy area before the mass air flow meter packed in, we ended up stuck in the same campsite for 10 days with a hybrid car to make do so didn't get as far south as we were supposed to.
Brilliant roads though hardly any traffic apart from around the Paris area on our way back.

More people on here with plenty more experience than me will be along to add to your list.

Most of all good planning helps a lot and enjoy Thumbs Up

Ps we drove from west cumbria so not that crazy an idea and you couldn't do it in a better car unless the air flow meter packs in of course Evil or Very Mad Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.
Here 110 black edition defender.

I looked at Hull and Zeebrugge which was £762 but Dover to Calais was £112!

It's a lot more, but your saving hell of a drive down 5 or 6 hours without a caravan on the back

I agree, i like how route finders can do it so quick but in real life it takes so looonnnngggg..

Im travelling down on a saturday so hopefully traffic shouldnt be too bad. To be honest i dont mind long haul trips as we go to southern ireland to see family then another trip to newquay most years.

Hopefully the sport will make the trip feel easy, set the cruise control and cruise away as the caravan is only 1.4 ton the sport wont even know it there Thumbs Up

England 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Depends on the mileage that ur willing to do regarding the beach, you could do what most brits do and head towards the vendee region?

were going all the way down to montpellier in june which should be a nice drive lol but then again im not towing so lot easier to drive when its just the car!

Jeeeez, i really couldn't be arsed towing a caravan alllllllll that way, sticking to 60 mph Shocked It would spoil the enjoyment of owning a range rover sport. Whistle Sell the van, jump in the sport, get your foot down, and book a few hotels. Thumbs Up
Good luck on your journey though, have a safe one.

You either get caravaning or you don't unfortunatly the kids love it!! I never thought I would like it but been an outdoors guys who has spent many a night just sleeping in a poncho, a caravan is like the hilton apart from I know what's gone on in my bed Thumbs Up don't get me wrong a nice plush hotel has been enjoyed of many occasions too.

There's plenty of time to enjoy the French roads when the vans not on the back too. To be fair though I am more of a full fat type of driver who enjoys the cruising part more, if I want speed I'll take a sports car or bike out. Plus after a few miles you forget you are towing, this should be the case more so with the tdv8 up front..

As for the beach it seems a lot of the coastline is cliffs, I was looking at le crotoy area as I think that has a sandy beach in that area (plus it's in the direction of coming home)
