No. LR are replacing the engine and have been very fair with a replacement vehicle. The fact that your wife doesn't want to drive the RRS any more is not LR's fault. The chance of the crank failing again is so remote as to not be worth considering - sadly your wife's fears are not likely to be swayed by such arguments however so you're stuck. It's odd that she'd drive an unknown Discovery but not your newly re-engine RRS. "Nowt so queer as folk" as the saying goes... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I do not think you would get very far challenging LR as they are fixing the car and have kept you mobile - have you considered the Disco uses the same mechanical components so what is to stop you being in the same boat in a couple of years time |

So it seems the failures go on and on. I'm sure like mine, you will never be told what caused the failure. I was forced to change my car after the engine was replaced due to bad workmanship and then the dealer dragging heels and arguing over who was footing bill for further diagnosis and repairs.

There is no car in the world that may not breakdown at anytime. The problem is that cars have become so reliable we find it difficult to accept when they do. Back in the dark ages when I was a boy every weekend was spent trying to get through the following week without a breakdown and these are cars with about 18000 miles on the clock. Today I think the biggest problem with modern cars is the move to no spare. The grunge used to seal the tyre is fine if it is a small puncture but if it is a rip in the wall you are stuffed. Just imagine trying to get an unusual tyre size and being told 'No we cannot get it for two weeks'

I have to second what Terryrrs says above. I owned a dealership many moons ago. Originally we had close to 20 mechanics who changed clutches, gearboxes, starters, alternators, suspension regularly. Over 10 years we shrunk the workshop by over half a the vast majority of work was servicing, brakes the odd clutches etc.
