Can anyone advise how, or if, it is possible to release a stuck on EPB in the later models. Mine has stuck but seams to have self healed - for now at least.
On my earlier model it was fairly easy to prise up the centre console and hook the emergency release cable. Is this feature still available and if so how do you get at it.
Advice welcome.

I was within minutes of calling them thanks Ady. However, since i was at home and had just finished washing it (or changing the dirt to be more exact), I decided to have a coffee and check the manual.
When I tried it again it came off.
No instructions in manual though.

I would certainly get it looked at, you might not be able to get it releast next time, if you are in a rush.

Aye good point Ady. It's in for a service next week so I'll do just that.
I was wondering more for future reference in case I was caught in remote places.

I'm sure you will be asking your service manager when you take it in for its service.

Thanks Bob. I have had to do this on my earlier car and access is not easy, as shown.
But it seams to have changed on the later models with the rotary gear selector. I cant see a way in.

Looking at the pictures of 6 speed v 8 speed gear selectors, it seems that the EPB switch for the 12MY rotary selector is still in the same relative position as the earlier models and is still bolted in in the same way, so it's reasonable to expect the emergency release cable to still be in the same position.



If the small trim in front of the switch cannot be removed to uncover the bolts which hold it in place then I imagine that the whole gear selector assembly would have to be removed.

Perhaps Bobby could shed some light from the 12MY workshop manual.

Sorry chaps, I know it's an old post, but I thought I'd add something that might help somebody in the future.

The rotary knob type (later sport) has a red lever under the cup holder (easy to lift out the way). This is the release from the gearbox being in park (maybe after a flat battery) and you can't use the gear selector. No force need to use this one.

The EPB emergency release is still the old wire loop. This is located under the EPB switch in the centre console. Lift off the flappy bit of plastic in the well of the switch with your finger to expose a pair of screws holding the switch in place. You need a T10 torx to undo these and don't drop them unless you want to dis mental the entire centre console to retrive!

Now lift the switch up (still attached to a cable plug) and in the very narrow gap, you can just about make out the wire loop.
