Yes it was a cold day and also very very wet, so i think you may be onto something here. If it is a case of moisture on contacts, is there any really good spray on remedies that could disperse any moisture ?

I know WD40 is always put forward as a possibility, but i do not want to introduce anything that could potentially make the situation worse.

Any suggestions / advice gratefully received

I've no miracle suggestions as these intermittent faults can be a right pain in the backside. I'd hang on and see if it repeats and under what circumstances.

I'd be checking connectors that are exposed under wheel arches etc. - have you pressure washed it or had it steam cleaned?

You could also give your compressor a work out by going from access to max height and see if it all functions well.

I find that putting the car up/down a couple of times prior to driving seems to stop the suspension fault from pinging up on the dash.
The car is regularly jet washed so may have to look at alternatives there, cannot use the car wash as the car only just fits in even when lowered ! And never really happy with the finished result.

Will need to google for good electrical sealant sprays, there must be something on the market
