Engine Flush

Has anyone had this done when having their vehicle serviced Question It has been offered to me in addition to my second service which is due at the end of the month. Another gimmick Question Or isn't the usual oil change adequate these days Question When i asked if it was part of the second service i was told no, its a recommendation, oh and it waill be £34.00 i think i was quoted Shocked My reply was, if its not part of the service and it isn't essential, then don't do it. She then tried to tell me all the benefits of having it done. Smoother running, better mpg and it cleans all the crap out of the engine. If there is crap in my engine after 9000 miles, then there is something seriously wrong with it. Whistle With the service intervals my motor gets, i really don't think it is necessary. Do you Question

No.

You won't get all the flushing agent out, unless they put some oil in run it then drop that out and in goes the final fresh oil.

IMO leave well alone.

sounds a very cheap "remedy", if it was that good it would be more expensive, wouldnt it ? like a terraclean ~ £100 ? Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

The average dealer's 'service receptionist' is about as close to being an automotive engineer as I am to being Pope -its marketing bull: modern synthetic oils and filters do not need to be flushed - this is out-of-date and solely aimed at getting cash from you.

Yes just as i thought, you could tell the receptionist was reading it off a script, because she didn't have any answers to my questions and she did admit, she was not mechanically minded. Whistle Thanks for your input guys. Thumbs Up

I remember when I did an engine flush on my 1.6 nova, granted it pulled every bit of dirt out of the engine but that dirt masked all the rattles and knocks the engine had. So then had to put morrisons own treacle oil in the make it quite again...

Why don't land rover concentrate on fixing the many lists of common faults instead or trying to upsell a Censored product.

Never have an engine flush...its just about the worse thing you can do to an engine.

Treat it to some better oil. Mike
