Much of Australia's diesel comes from Singapore refineries and I assume much of Malaysia diesel also comes from there. The quality of aussie diesel while Ok is not the best.

The quality of diesel in Singapore is hugely different from across the causeway in Malaysia. While Singapore uses euro4 diesel Malaysia is still on euro2. I am no technical expert but as far as i know euro2 is much 'dirtier' and has much higher sulphur content. I am not sure if it is ok for EC spec'ed DPF diesel cars to use the lower grade diesel prevalent in Malaysia. It'd be great if someone knowledgeable on here is able to advice.

Malaysia refines its own oil. I believe even the higher grade diesel used in the EC are often refined in Malaysia. But due to a lot of reasons, not least consumer resistance vis cost, lower grade stuff is used domestically. |
