Hi all

My RRS is off the road

Some decided to overtake on the wrong side of the road and on the way back in hit my car

He hit the off side wheel more than anything but now it's at a completely different angle to the other wheels. Not sure if he has damaged the wishbone or axel etc.

I called LR assist and the came and collected the car and dropped me off at home. They have also said they will handle the whole claim for me and notify my insurance etc. Hoping to get replacement car today from them and they have said it will be like for like.

Has anyone used them before?? what are they like?

I was told 'like for like' too when my 6 month old RRS was incapacitated (turbo problems) and they delivered me an Astra
Naturally I declined and was offered a F Type or Evoque, which I took the latter.......still wasn't like for like though

In all honesty you may be lucky of they have an RRS available, but I guess with the number of RRS's having problems at anyone time they could never keep enough of them in reserve to offer a true like for like to everyone  ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

A good friend of mine worked for Enterprise, and he told me he was shocked at the amount of Range Rovers that they would give out to people as hire/courtesy cars who were having problems with their brand new ones that they'd bought. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

Hi like for like seems to be an Evoque, especially as there is a shortage of new model RRS 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6

The right to have a "like-for-like" hire car is issue that can be complicated so you might want to confirm with LR's Assist team that there will be no liability at all coming back to you - as are they're charges (which is how these companies make money).

Hire car expense are part of the 'uninsured losses' and these are claimed from the 3rd Party who hopefully will be insured to cover these additional costs.

If the 3rd Party isn't covered they can object on the basis that they were not notified in advance and did not agree and therefore had no opportunity to mitigate their own liability. They could argue that hiring a RRS or equivalent is excessively expensive and they will only cover the provision of a normal vehicle so you are not deprived of transport.

My advice is to sort and clarify the issue by the exchange a few emails so you have a record if you ever need them.

Just my experience and may not be applicable to this post...LR Assist sorted our Sport recovery and Enterprise told us we had to have an 'executive' loaner...they provided a Jag but only for 48 hours...after that the car had to be returned and a loaner provided by the Land Rover dealer who was repairing our car.

My like for like this time last year when my engine lunched itself was a Nissan Squashfly. Supplied by Enterprise. Only fun part of driving it was seeing how many mpg I could get, 75 was the max on journey from Gloucester to Bath ended up driving son's Polo more  2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

I did clarify this with the hire company and siad that I would not be paying for the hire if there were thrid party issues. They confirmed that I would not be liable provided I had not lied - which I have not and I have a witness to the accident. I called from my work phone so I have saved the call recording. Just in case there are any issues.

Also gave me a 2010 RRS so as like for like as I can get.

But I really do want my car back

Just to be absolutely picky (because insurance companies are examining small print these days) I'd still follow up with an email or note of some kind saying what was agreed.

The reason is that a recorded telephone conversation can't be used as evidence unless you told the other person you were recording the call and they agreed it was OK.
