It was a limited colour and in my view the only colour to have an early car in but then it was this particular car that made me go and look at a new Sport in 2005. Unfortunately I bought a blue 2.7

I can't believe anyone would pay that sort of premium for just a colour - I certainly wouldn't. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Would have thought that colour is only going to appeal to a limited market. MY 09TDV8 |

It was B3EE Don't worry I don't quite agree with his figures! My guess is they are worth same as any other colour but its Marmite so smaller market than a popular colour. |

That explains why he's kept quiet on this subject, viewing from behind the curtains. |

agree. I'd never have a 'common' black one, a silver one at a push, a storaway maybe, but defo a red, bright blue or orange one ! Lol the thing is with premium prices for a colour is that if you want one, tough, you have to pay the price. Mine was £4k over normal price when I bought it, and that was the cheapest out of 5 I found over 4 months of looking. There's one on ebay, one on Autotrader at the moment - and thats it ! Once they sell, if you want one, you'll either have to wait a long time, pay a premium or get it wrapped/resprayed. Ps. The one on ebay is high mileage, but an absolute bargain for orange RRS lovers ! also, Kahn feature this colour pretty often too ! (not that I'd buy a Kahn full conversion though either ! ) also, a quick ebay search for orange RRS will reveal not a single one even advertised and sold/unsold in 3 months ! I was told by a dealer that only 250 orange RRS were manufactured - but I've never had this clarified and even asked here on this forum, but got no replies. RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange ! |

Like Marmite: Not everyone's cup of tea, but the ones I have seen on here look nice to me personally. I don't think I saw one in the flesh so to speak. B3EEE said "I'd never have a 'common' black one", but certainly in the northwest (and I am sure many other places too) traders import them from other cities to meet high demand. Mine came from Northern Ireland for the very reason that black is the top selling colour here - bar none. From a [previous] trade perspective (mostly commercials and Yank imports - not RR's) I would buy a quirky colour one, and if a proper thing, add an extra grand to it as a rarity. Hype that. You can always come down, but not up! I had a Dodge Ram with the rarer 6.something V8 Cummins diesel in it, it ended up going to Estonia! (The pic was taken where Lithuania meets Belarus and Poland en route)
I bought that truck in North Carolina, and it is now in Russia. A slime green RRS with magnolia leather you may struggle with. That burnt Orange colour will find a man, I am sure. There is an Arab guy on here with one in that orange colour. Many people make favourable comments about it. I would say a 4.2 SC bypasses the economy crowd; most of whom like to fit in with socially acceptable colours. The bloke who can afford to feed a petrol one the vast amount they drink doesn't give a rats ass what others think. He will buy something different just to be different. Rightly so. Someone ordered it new. Someone will buy it used. If you remember before the Polish invasion, traders used to eschew left hookers. I used to lap them up. A German or a Finn would always pop out of the woodwork to buy it to drive home. I even took profit on a dire MB100D Merc minibus van (never sold in the UK for good reason), on Spanish plates with funny incomplete documentation, I bought it doubting myself. Some Albanian bought it to drive some swag home in. There they don't care about documents. Job done. Same with quirky colours. The RRS is a desirable car if a nice one. One in the burnt orange may get export enquirers you may find. Advertise it as "export welcome". Quirky export stuff - especially petrol models to countries where petrol is cheap - can be a lucrative corner of the trade. Many Russians are buying here now since the late 90's. RHD doesn't bother them, especially if they are from the east nearer to Japan where RHD is more common. British cars are highly revered there as we have good maintenance, good roads and good dealer support - so proper cars. I get that most here wont speak Russian, but if you have Google Chrome, the browser will translate. Kinda. Here is an article, in Russian, bigging up English bought cars: http://real-deal-blog.com/2010/07/31/%D0%B...%B8%D0%B8/ Last edited by Stuart on Tue Jan 28 2014 9:36pm. Edited 10 times in total |
