How Low Can You Go?

How low can you go on the 'Range' indicator on the trip computer? I know it varies if you alter your driving style - but how accurate is it?

I always get a sqeaky bum when it gets below about 30 miles until empty.

Do you have anything left when it gets to zero? ---------------------------

I set off from Northumbria with 120 miles showing on the computer, i know my journey was 145 miles back home, so i thought lets see if i can get home on whats left in the tank bearing in mind most of the journey was A roads or motorway. No traffic jams to speak of on my journey, i arrived home and the computer said i still had 20 miles left so i let it drop to 7 miles before i really needed to put some more in. I don't usually let my tank get below half full, this was just a one off as running your tank very low isn't advisable. IIRC i think i did about 550 miles on that tank of fuel. Shocked Current average mpg at the moment running local A to B is 28.9 using Shell Nitro+ Diesel. Its due a blast down the motorway very soon.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Bali Blue

The day mine was delivered i could'nt wait to get out in it so off we went to the shops ... still trying to work out what all the knobs and switches did and also understand all the guages. it was'nt until i put fuel in that i realised the guage had been showing completly empty and also showing zero miles on the range display.

Never did see any form of low fuel warning though Shocked 2010 RRS, TDV8

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Firenze Red

Used to run my TDV8 into single figures regularly, even on 0 miles range for several miles, never any problems, last week on the new SC, range was at 16 miles when pulled into station, filled it up, pump stopped at 91 litres, the 16 miles range left would have been say 5 litres left, this makes 96 litres, tank holds 105 litres, so still at least 9 litres in tank when pulled into station.. the range guage will always be on the cautious side, how many people would be claiming from Landrover for inconvenience if they were running out of fuel with range left on the display...
If you're off roading, keep it above a quarter tank! 5.0 Ltr Superchrged RRS2, Chile Red, Sideways out of junctions!
TDV8 HST Stornaway on a 08.. remapped.. now gone and replaced, was a mighty fine car..
4.2 SC First Edition when they first came out, quick car!

I went to play golf last Thursday at South Winchester and was running very low but decided to get fuel on leaving the course as there is a garage close by but when I left it was closed so decided to carry on with 8 miles range showing. I then got stuck in traffic trying to get to Chandlers Ford where I knew there was a petrol station. It was the most nerve wracking journey I think I've ever done. By the time I had queued to get into the garage the computer was reading 1. Trust me I won't be doing that again in a hurry. I was cra@@ing myself to say the least. MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

I fill up when I get to 1/4 full. I like to know that I've always got some contingency in the tank; sadly, in the RRS a 1/4 tank isn't that big a contingency! That and running to near empty risks pulling crud through to the fuel filter. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Played fuel roulette loads of times and furthest I dared go was 23 miles beyond 0 range Rolling Eyes
When I filled the car I managed 97 litres which equates to a gallon still left in tank. Never had an issue with crud, but then only ever filled car from modern petrol stations and avoided the works pump we have on site Whistle 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜
