Remove Outer Drivers Side Vent

I have broken the control lever (moves the vanes up and down and side to side) on the drivers side air vent on my RRS - the one closest one to the door and need to take it out for repair or replacement.

I had a cup holder mounted on it which worked well - then I spilt some latte hitting a bump that went into the mechanism and I didn't clean it at the time - it jammed the mechanism and broke when I tried to move it.

Does anyone know how to pull these out without pulling the dash apart.

Thanks

Paddi - thanks for that link - very informative - a shame he didn't also do the side I am interested in with the headlight switch in the lower panel. While the panel is different it probably comes off the same way as passenger side so I will follow the same procedure and see what happens.

Cheers
