Has any one had a problems with there park assist, used it today for the first time following all commands as instructed and also the comment remembered on the away days says trust the car, I did and guess what done a lot of damage to my front passenger alloy, totally gutted will be contacting L/R tomorrow?

Does the MY14 come with more than the front and rear sensors?

If not, then I don't think that you will get much sympathy from Land Rover. There are notices all over the place that tell you that it is designed to assist you when parking but that you should still use mirrors etc when maneuvering.

I had to wait at a service desk in a JLR dealers once whilst the receptionist explained to a very irrate Jaguar owner that the rear assist was there only as an aid and that Jaguar were in no way responsible because he had reversed into a post his rear sensors failed to detect. ---------------------------

I've just done some research on the LR website and discovered that the new Parallel Park Assist actually parks the car for you. In which case I would definitely take it up with LR.

I've been using the park assist without too much problem. One of the times I felt that it was going to hit the card behind me so I stopped it -- in hindsight, I was probably ok but didn't want to take any chances.

I am curious to learn more about how it damaged your front passenger rim. If anything, I would expect the rear passenger rim to be damaged on the curb (or even front or rear bumpers).

Dfy123, what size alloys do you have? I'm afraid that the larger alloys are especially prone to damage not only when parking but when attempting anything off road. It's easy to think of a wheel being scuffed when it slides into a rut. I've managed to scuff a couple of my Evoque wheels doing exactly that and they are only 20 inches. To be honest, a car with the RRS's off road credentials and 22 inch rims are not comfortable together.

I think the Park Assist function is a potential nightmare for LR because of the possibility of claims for damage in such a wide variety of parking situations which is why they will say ultimate responsibility rests with the driver. My guess is they will offer a wheel refurb if it's minor (£100 - £150) or a new rim (£700 - £1200). In the litigious US, I would have thought it a legal minefield but the parallel parking is much less common than it is here.

By the way, do you have surround cameras and, if so, do they take priority over the reversing camera when you engage reverse or does the reverse camera only image take priority? In the Evoque, you cannot use the surround cameras in reverse for this reason which makes it a pointless option.

Well they had the car in for 5 days loads of wiring tests backwards and forwards to L/R eventually they recommended replacing the park assist module, guess what on back order waiting for part to arrive, the replacement alloy has arrived and will be fitted when the park assist is fixed, we shall see.
