Although ive never been as impressed with the disco 3/4 styling over my pre 3 model, The new disco (which im getting) has actually improved the front - the rear still isn't brilliant, but its not that bad. However the new D4 looks brilliant compared to the new RRS, unfortunately its styling is quickly going backward on me...I did start to warm to it (except the rear) but alas no

Im looking forward to all the toys my D4 will have, like the cameras and the detection stuff ect...its going to be cool.

Drive wise the Disco has always been a little more wallowy (is that a word) than the sport, but then I stand by the new sport having driven a few now not on a track is no more noticeable. It will be interesting to take the disco to Germany and see how it handles the autobahns compared to the last sport...I did use dynamic a bit, which of course the disco doesn't have, but whether torque vectoring makes any difference on a normal a road in Wales is something I don't know.

(fortunately we have no kids, but two dogs!)

All that said - its our money to use how we like on what we want Mike

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

From April to September, I did travel a few thousand miles across France, Belgium, Germany and so forth in a D4 and they were great miles. Loved every minute of it! The Disco just ate up the miles, went everywhere in great comfort.
I'll be doing similar next year in the new RRS which I've had since mid October. One thing is that it is somewhat wider, so one has to be a bit more careful with regard to smacking the 22" alloys on narrow roads with a kerb!
By the way auto heated screens are great, they will demist without pressing the buttons!

The sport breezed across Europe - it was really great to be in, so if the disco is as you say then it will be as good. Obviously my current disco has the heated screens as did the defender and sports ...unfortunately I really hate them coming on without me pressing the buttons...I know when I want it and can press the button (talk about a first world problem though!). Usual by the time the heater had run, the heated screen wasn't really required anyway.

The extra width and length (without the extra internal size) was another issue for me with the new sport...the last sport almost didn't fit in parking spaces as it was! One car park was just asking for alloy kissing on the curb...like you say that width makes it ever tighter. The 20" has a slightly bigger profile on the new sports though, which may help - but I bet the 22"s don't? Mike

Does anyone think the LR mania for reducing the button count has gone too far? Mark

Certainly less is more, my new HiFi is the same no bass, treble or balance and no flashing lights, unlike my old Pioneer from the late 80s Rolling Eyes High on lights low on sound.

But have they gone too far?

Stylish yes, practical not sure. Only time will tell.

Don't hold me to the exact day but I ordered mine around the middle of October and could have got it mid January but decided to hold back another month so mid/late Febuary. So its clear some dealers can get earlier delivery dates.

A lot depends on whether it's a petrol or oil-burner.

Yes that's it. Dealers are given build slot allocations, the better dealers have more slots. My local was chuffed to tell me how good they are and get 9 month wait. Then I get 4 months from another in Peterbourgh.

Ordered my RRS Autobiography in August last year and was given an approximate date of July for delivery. Stafford Land Rover called last week to say they have a build slot on March 5th! Still in a state of shock.
