Various questions to ask about my RRS

Hi all, just a few concerns that have raised their head;

1. First of all, i seem to have a repeat problem of dipped beam Halogen bulbs, i've spent up to £50 on replacement bulbs since owning the car. Are there any known faults? I usually use the Auto Headlight setting on the dash, but in an effort to try and let the lights last a bit longer, i have to switch them off manually, which in turn defeats the object of the auto light setting being there in the first place.

2. Secondly, when driving from cold, the engine seems to want to rev quite high before changing up a gear and almost drives like it has to be doing a certain speed before changing up; when on the bypass the gear ratios seem to feel as though they vary from High to Close Ratio (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th can be very close together and 6th can drop the revs by up to 1000rpm) and while in 5th gear i can wait for 6th but in doing so i can also increase the revs by 2 or 300rpm without gaining much speed. Sometimes i have to select 6th myself with command shift.

3. Lastly, the car seems to take a while to warm up. It's the 2.7 TDV6, the gauge takes a good 6 to 8 miles before it goes to normal, and in turn the heater takes its time heating up the inside of the car. Any tips or advice will be much appreciated. MY2009 Range Rover Sport Stormer 2.7 TDV6

When you are fitting the headlamp bulbs, are you touching the glass part of the bulb with your fingers? Apparently the oils from your skin can decrease the life of your bulb significantly. Not sure if that's your problem though...

Gear change

The gear change is normal when cold, the idea is to make the car warm up quicker so it hangs in each gear making the engine work harder so warm faster..
Is your FBH working it might want resetting.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

On the bulbs - the point made above is correct re: oils, same with any halogen - but in one of our cars it was eating bulbs H4 are only a few pence so it wasn't a problem - more a pain to fit. I bought some bulbs from a different branch of the same company, by chance and they lasted so it could have been some form of batch defect.

Equally not that I would pay Halfords or main dealer prices, especially for bulbs - but you could try a genuine part bulb...exploit the warranty?

Gear change is normal.

Heat up - depends on what your experiencing...do you have the FBH, is that working? or when was your thermometer last checked? Mike
