United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Teeth Sucking

As per this thread, I needed a new pad wear sensor so that a) light would go out and b) MOT would be passed.

In order to get one quickly, found a LR dealer and made the visit to the parts department. I was in a jovial mood, explained what I wanted & chap found the right one Thumbs Up Asked for a "forum discount" & got 10% Thumbs Up but it was the discussion on the discs that left me confused...

"Where did you get your discs?"

"Chap I know in Wales" (specialist brake specialist)

Teeth sucking noise... "Hmmm, so how long will they last?"

"Erm.. Seeing as he makes them for racing cars etc, I'm sure they'll do"

More teeth sucking noises... "They won't last"

"I do less than 10k miles per year, they'll see me ok for the next few years"

"Hmmm..."

Rolling Eyes

It really ticks me off that just "because" they are not LR "official", that they are by that reason cr@p and will kill my car. They are better than OE and will last as long as necessary before I spend my money to buy more and if that happens to be less than "expected" by LR, then that's my problem not theirs Rolling Eyes

So glad for the internet and thereby information and choice.

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Cairns Blue

OE ones last about 15k miles on mine, was used to tow race shuttle or twin axle caravan. In 48000 miles I had two sets of original and one motor factor rear discs plus pads every year or 14 months. As the Brembo brakes work well would stick to OE on front and anything else on rears. But agree most dealers talk crap with a few exceptions Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!

I have never had new disks in 100,000 miles of Range Rover Sport driving (and I would change them if they needed it, every service they were reported as being near the wear limit but ok to leave them "for a while") 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit
