SAT NAV useless again!

Not sure if everyone finds the same, but the Sat Nav land rover use is simply rubbish!

In my old MY60 RRS it would take an average of 10/15 extra minutes per hour journey by taking the most crazy route.

And now the same in my new MY14 RRS.. i like the layout of the Nav in the new one, and how it instructs via driver display between the dials.. but coming home last night i had my TOMTOM app running after felt like i was being led a stray by the built in nav system, and that confirmed it AGAIN how useless it really is.

Took us the most crazy route you could imagine, added 25 minutes on a 1hr 20min journey.

The worst thing was, when i was just 0.5miles from my home, the nav still said 5.7miles and was trying to make me go passed the turning to my road, around the village into the next town and back on myself via the bypass… WHY?

I tried playing with the options for different routes and didn't get anywhere..

So as with my old sport, i find myself with the TOMTOM app on my iPhone plugged in on charge and resting in my drinks holder! Not good LR...

The Jaguar satnav is almost as bad! I think the problem is the Denso program.

Garmin, Tom Tom or Google gizmos might solve the navigation problems, but why should owners pay around £2000 to JLR for a built in satnav that is untrustworthy. Some 2014MY XF's have been updated with iGo Primo satnav software, which is used by VW/Audi. Unfortunately UK spec cars are not included, but rumour has it that UK spec 2015MY XJ and maybe XF's might be upgraded. Perhaps Landrover will follow suit.

You hav to be be very careful with the settings on the Sat Nav as it will re-route according to traffic if you don't switch that function off. So basically it will choose a route where there are no yellow or red traffic incidents once it calculates it. This is great if you want to avoid queues but takes it out of your control to choose which ones are worth risking.

I agree. I have no option but to use ther navogation software, due to LR no longer supporting/ updating the sat nav units fitted in 2005-2009 RRS & Disco 3.The latest disc currently available is 2011/2012 Sad . 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

For the life of me, I cannot understand why LR don't contract with TomTom and be done with it. Mark

That explains a lot, my XF would at times change it's route to that of a previous occasion and I thought it was chap because of that but now I know.

Have had Jaguar and RRS MY10/MY13 built in sat navs and my Garmin Nuvi wipes the floor with the lot of them even though it is now 5 years old Sad

I put up with the built in system though because I'm too lazy to hide the Garmin each time I park and the trailing cables drive me mad Evil or Very Mad

I'm assuming the system JLR use is cheaper than the big boys and every penny counts when selling £50k+ luxury vehicles Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Sadly I find this too.... I always have to google where i'm travelling to before setting off. Then take the route as far as I can without nav.

I then use the nav for the final part of the journey once i'm near

Worst was Jag X type in Monaco 2006 - could not get me out of 1 way system and eventually had to pull over get map out of boot and find way out the old fashioned way - unbelievable Rolling Eyes

It also used to try and take me on green lanes as part of route but not being a footballer I used to turn around and find an alternative Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
