Hi all, after many requests I thought I would share how I installed the Ipad mini

This is a semi permanent fixture, the kit I was going to produce would have come with the brackets etc, but for now I'm going to tell you how you can do it quicky.

I'm assuming you have the stock sat nav and aux input at the rear.

These are the items you need and how I did it.

You need a blue tooth remote control, can be purchased from ebay for about £25 I think. (this is mainly for the home button)
The charger lead
2 L shaped brackets
Some number plate strong double sided tape (I got mine from halfords
A 2 meter audio lead. ( I have modified an airport express to 12v for mine so it uses airplay)
12v usb charger module.

Remove the navigation trim (three pieces they just pull out as one piece) then fish for the clips lol.
Remove the two pieces either side of the navigation trim (then fish for the clips)
Remove both air vents
You can now remove the display
On the display remove the plastic trim with buttons and unclip the wire. Tuck the wire out of the way.
At the front of the display bracket there are two mounting holes this is where you will attach your L brackets. Make the brackets up at a angle so the iPad lays on the old screen. Once made use the double sided tape to fix the iPad to the L brackets
Now you can put back the old head unit and using the two screws at the bottom mound the iPad.
The left hand air vent can go back in place and offer up the right hand air vent to make sure the iPad is even.
Put in the charger cable and route to the top glove box.
You now need to modify the right hand air vent to allow the charger cable to clear the vent ( I did this with a hot knife)
Once done the air vent can go back.
Route your audio cable from the iPad along the passenger side and into the aux port.
Now for the fun part you have to trim up the sat nav bezel so it will go back in place, remove the two sides so you can work with just the bezel (use an angle grinder and take a bit off at a time) don't worry about the trim still being over the iPad screen just yet as you want it just to go back in place.
After you have the bezel fitting back ok you have the lower the bottom section, I cut down both side and pushed it down, then find something like a small rod to hold it in place.once done use some fiberglass filler to set it all.
Sand down offer up make sure it all looks good and spray with satin black.
I put the usb charger in the glove box and wired up to the lighter power supply (I did this so you can still connect the iPad to a laptop if needed)
Put back the trim job done!

this is maybe asking for to much but if you could make a picture or video tutorial that would be great and a couple links to the stuff required.

I am interested in getting more info such as 4x4 from obd, using dash commander looks great, and ipad mini connected on usb port of Pioneer 8500 workd great, I can even skip to next video using steering control!

it's my first message in this forum, also because I bought my RRS last friday. I hope to share our common passion for long in this forum.

The previous owner, changed the original sat, with another horrible one, thus during the week end I started to think about a solution about this problems.
Yesterday eveing I got the idea
Why not install an ipad mini?
I started to search on internet and that's the best result!

On the last message I see that you have pictures, but I can't see them.
Shall you please repost the pictures about the setting of the ipad mini?

My english and my electrical knowledge is not so high, so pictures are better than thousands words... isn't it?

What a great idea !! My compliments... i was always thinking that cars in the near future only has tablets on board and control everything !!
