United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Cairns Blue

I would bet alternator. Wet cell battery's will regenerate to some degree if run flat, possibly enough to work dash lights etc but unlikely to start the car. Sounds a bit like a dead short that resolved itself. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

That would only stop it from starting, you would still get ign lights and hazards would always work.

My money is also on an alternator and if you believe that it will fix itself, it won't, only next time it will also fry your battery.

The elements inside an alternator can work intermittently and unless you have a really poor earth or battery connections, alternator is the only way to go.

well ive got a big grin from ear to ear right now, im so glad everyone took there time to give me so many reply and this site is a great thing to all landrover owners,,
just to give you all update sofar,, i took the sport out last night for a run to the shop and back and lights were almost candle power, so today i borrowed a multi tester and yeessss guess what ?? the battery was showing 11.2 volts even with heated seats on lights on, with the engine running there was no voltage rise even with wifey holding revs to 2ooo rpm, so im going to change alternator next few days myself and save some wedge,

happy days
ill get back with the results

It won't be too different to these instructions for a D3.
There has been some discussion about whether non-OEM alternators are up to the job- your call.

Just the same as a D3 should take about 35 mins if the fan comes off, Unless the car has ARC fitted then its a bit longer...

Flack Thumbs Up

Judging by the number of L/R alternator failures you have to ask yourself are they upto the job Question Especially on the TDV8's Whistle
Good luck changing it though Thumbs Up

Good news. And good on you for tying up the thread- so much more useful when searching through when you have the same issue.
