Laughing .....sounds like a quality technician Shocked

Mine went when the wife was driving down the motorway at "cough cough" 70 mph and reduced speed and wouldn't go above 50mph.
The car was recovered and LRA didn't even try to repair it, perhaps they should have adopted your guys technique. Laughing ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Don't worry they rev them hard when new...2 minutes old!

My 2013 was perfect, 2 software updates (hardly its fault) that the LR tech screwed up and bricked the satnav unit - again not the cars fault.

2 new front brake discs.

All under warranty Mike

I think as you will have a 2 year warranty, it would be your best time to get into RRSport ownership. Thumbs Up

The SDV6 is a good engine and the model comes with some nice upgrades from the earlier years (electric tailgate, better NAV, BT streaming etc)......go on.......go with the heart Mr. Green ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Lets put the horror stories into context.

The German TUV outfit publishes reliability statistics - in brief: the best cars record 3% with issues and the worst (mostly Citroens it seems) about 10%. So the vast majority of cars don't give too much hassle.

You might want to take note that in the UK the rule of thumb is that a manufacturer is liable under consumer regulations for consumer durable products being fit-for-purpose and performing OK for 6 years. (the Which crowd and .gov websites produce stacks of info on this stuff)

So on your proposed '62 plate you'll have about 2 years left of full LR warranty and then 3 years under consumer law with liability being carried by the Garage (the retailer, who you have a contract with) who sold you the car and through them to JLR. It's why car makers will generally contribute to repairs after their 3 years warranty has expired; it's not because they're being nice it's because it is the law and they'd have no dealerships if they didn't back them and if they were always being taken to court they'd have to pay anyway plus all the legal fees !!!

Of course you can buy an extended warranty which will spell out your rights (and try and take a few away) and pay the repairer direct whereas if you just rely on the consumer law you'd need to pay for the repairs and reclaim. This could be time consuming, could be uncertain and require a Small Claims Court action (covers up to £15K, I think).

I think you could log on to any marque/model forum and find plenty of horror stories on that particular marque/model. Don't forget that satisfied people don't usually comment but many of those with faults will want to highlight them, sometimes without giving the dealer the chance to put things right.

It's your money so only you can decide. For what it's worth I took the view that life is too short to worry about problems that other people have had.

Mine has never missed a beat since taking delivery back in April. A friend of ours wishes he could say the same about his Merc!

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black

I thought I would update this thread for the many prospective new owners that come to this forum . Today is exactly a year since I collected my 2012 RRS 3.0 sdv AB and if it were not for the replies I had to to this thread I would never have bought one. To say the car has exceeded my expectations would be an understatement, faults have been zero and it's still an event for me every time I get in and drive it . Whilst driving I still feel special and don't find myself constantly looking out for speed cameras because I am very relaxed , very comfortable and well within speed limits . Don't get me wrong give me a sports car and I will drive it like one . Bearing in mind lots of people come on forums to discuss problems and lots of people without problems don't come on forums , in the last year I have read this forum at least once everyday and what I have learnt is most problems seem to come from the earlier RRS s 05 06 and 07 models and also the v8 TD seem to be more problematic . I have nearly 18 month Landrover warranty left for peace of mind and if finances allow in the future I will move to a RRS 2 or possibly the new model FF . The thing is once you have owned a RR nothing else will do Very Happy Thanks to everyone that gave me advice and merry Christmas to all Thumbs Up

Glad everything has went well for you.
I am in the same mind as you, I absolutely love getting in my RRS today, just as much as when I first sat in it and now can't see myself driving anything else.

Yes nice update. You mainly hear about only the horror stories, but it's good to hear one like this every now and again

Enjoy that car and have a good Christmas
