[Wanted] RRS 2.7 or 3.6 cash waiting for right motor

Hi all, I've decided to treat myself to a RRS ,I'm looking around a 2007-2009 but here is my dilemma ..
I'm not sure to get the 2.7 or the 3.6??
My budget is up to around 22k and if I could be lucky I would like a set of the overfinch 22" wheels to finish off.

What's your personal view and why did you choose yours..

Cheers Paul Wink

Go for the V8! Best bit of advice is read all the threads on here about things that need changing and check they have been done, costly bushes etc should be factored into your purchase price. There are others on here with loads of experience who will give great advice, when I made the choice of which to buy it came to a simple thought. I knew if I had bought the 2.7 every time it saw a V8 I would have gone - I want one of those!

Make sure wheels are genuine if you are getting Overfinches, lots of adds saying they are real when they are not, fake ones crack so worth paying the extra. Real ones have an oversize centre cap, look closely and it is easy to spot the difference, plus the name is written on the outer spoke. Some people say 22s affect the ride, if you live down a dirt track I would agree and think twice if you need to do any 'rough' surface, for normal driving they are totally fine and the car feels great, much more solid on corners and goes round roundabouts like on rails.

Happy hunting, if this photo makes you smile the you know the answer to what you should be buying!

Go for the newest low mile car you can find to fit your budget. Don't worry about V6 or V8, especially of your budget will stretch to a 3.0 V6, I don't know too much about prices, I don't live in Blighty. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2009 Buckingham Blue RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2010 Alaska White RRS 5.0 V8 Aspirated
Gone - 2017 Chawton White RRS 5.0 V8 Supercharged
Current - 2010 Java Black RRS 5.0 V8 Aspirated
Current- 2024 RRS P400 SE Dynamic

Not entirely sure the difference between the two appart from more power in the 3.6 and of course more smiles, fuel economy probably 10 mpg difference , so that's no biggy for me.
Love the pic above :thumbsupl
I'm probably going to be able to get a 2008 but realistically low miles is not nessasarry a good thing, as no car should be sat not being used as this causes a whole load of other issues.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HST Stornoway Grey

You should get a very nice motor for your budget. I paid 26k in august for my 2008 HST TDV8 with 75000 miles on it and have no regrets (never spent more than 15k on a car before!). My TDV8 has since been remapped and is fantastic Shocked well worth another couple of hundred quid
Also, dont worry about the wheels already being on the car, they regularly come up for sale second hand at a fraction of the original cost

Mine has a superchips bluefin remap. You read the original map from the car onto the gizmo they send, email it back to superchips, they then send you a modified map back. So you can swap between standard or remapped at any time
They would be able to tell if it had been previously remapped but other than that there are no external signs if its been done. Having driven mine before mapping the difference was obviously noticable straight away Shocked Shocked Shocked

Paul,

Welcome. Why did I buy my TDV8? Same reason as everyone else here ....I'd always wanted one Laughing

Anyway - if you don't mind being a guinea-pig; I've finally had a go at putting together a buyer's guide but never posted it before so if you follow this link you will either see the document immediately or your device will download it depending on which OS you are using:
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/us...0Guide.pdf

We've never had a buyer's guide but potential buyers often ask what to look for so this just seemed like a good idea.
Let me know what you think.

The members on here are never backward in coming forward with their comments so I'm bracing myself for comments on what's wrong/missed out/stupid/biased etc..... Rolling with laughter
I'll update the BG accordingly of course. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
