Egr valve blanking off kit light on help

I have recently had problem with the egr valves on my 07 plate sport
Or one mates told me to blank them off with a kit..
Instead of paying £1000 out to replace both so my friend made some make shift blanking off plates
As it wasn't running well and it came back running better than ever its just I have the engine light on when I buy
A proper kit for it and have it fitted will lights go off ??
Is there any way to get the lights off with just blanking the egr s off ??
What best kit to buy for this ???
And Is there any bad sides to just fitting these plates and not replacing egr s
And info would be appreciated thanks

You cant blank off 07's as the light will stay on, even when blanked off if the valve fails you need to replace the valve.
If its running ok with the light on you can just ignore it as Pete Bell from Bell Auto's is near to releasing a fix for the MY2007 year of cars to fix this problem..

Hi Guys
Interested to read about all the faults connected with EGR valves
I have a 09 sport where mine failed and the dealer recommended replacement
I disconnected the pipes from the valves to the intake pipes and filled the valves with alloy wheel cleaner
let it sit for a while and then started the engine with the intake blanked off so the cleaner cant get into the engine
the car is now running better than ever and no light on
well worth a try.
