Any recommendations for our route to Cyprus...

If any of you guys can recommend places to see/stay and nice hotels you would recommend, I would be extremely grateful....

The plan at the moment is:

Stuttgart - Zurich
Zurich - Lake Como
Lake Como - Florence
Florence - Lago del Castiglio
Lago del Castiglio - Naples
Naples - Bari
Bari - Patras
Patras - Pireaus
Pireaus - Limassol................PHEW!

ST, take a bit longer on the southern Italy leg - the Autostrada in the Sky along the coast from Naples south to Regio de Calabria is an amazing feet of engineering as it clings to the edges of cliffs and it is also great drive. Also worth a visit are Pisa (just off the autostrada near Livorno and Firenze). Salerno has a nice hotel up on the cliffs above the town (the town is best walked to rather than taking a car into) Called the Hotel Jolly. It has it's own private beach at the bottom of the cliffs and the most amazing artworks hanging in the hallways (be warned they are on the PORN side of Erotica and would never be allowed on public show here!!). The Jolly Hotel is part of a chain that is in most major Italian cities and they are very smart places. More Novotel than Ibis! Their website is here but I don't see any Union Flag to click to translate it into English www.jollyhotels.it

BTW, unless you have to I wouldn't go into Naples........ it is Liverpool in the sun and not that nice a place and full of crims Crying or Very sad Sorrento and Salerno, further round the Bay of Naples would be nicer and you can visit Pompeii/Herculanium easily from any of the towns round the bay 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm thinking, (If Mrs ST will let me!) to set up a blog(?) so I can keep you all up to date with our progress, as well as how the RRS is performing, staying in one piece, ave mpg and pics along the way.

'Our RRS in front of Chateau Chandon'
'Our RRS in front of Leaning Tower of Pisa'
'Our RRS on flatbed on it's way to nearest dealer'
'Our RRS back in Blighty as it's given up the ghost'

You know, that sort of thing! Laughing Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
