2005 RRS SC Fact. Fit Radio/CD changer replacement/upgrade?

Hi,

The Factory fit 6 CD changer radio unit is now getting the dreaded 'CD Error' message that is common with this type of unit, still no issues with radio or Aux. Does anyone have the details of how to get an OEM replacement and/or what i could upgrade the unit too, that is still PTI compatible?

I've tried attaching a pic from the web of the type of stereo i currently have installed.

Any help/direction would be great.

Regards

Easiest is just a straight swap of the unit. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

If you are handy with a screwdriver this thread might help you fix your CD player function:

yeah ive seen that but didnt want to really go messing around with it, im good with a screwdriver, but even better at breaking fragile things, not a good combination when trying to follow the guide Mr. Green

Ideally i just want to replace the unit but dont know where to go to get one that'll have a guarantee.

Ive also noticed that on a mates RRS his nav screen has an additional option (mine just has Navigation, 4x4 and Settings) which takes him into another menu and he can select his ipod/iphone. He says he can also play movies on it when he connects his ipad instead...and just has to select 'AUX' on the stereo to get the sound.
the connecting cable is in his glove compartment. other than the cable his units etc looks exactly the same as mine, his RRS is the same year etc. He bought his with this so doesnt know how it got added.

The aux port at the back of the centre console is still there, nothing is plugged into it, but we noticed when you do put something in here it overrides the audio for the item attached through the glove compartment cable so im guessing there is some kind of priority switch been wired in between the two (we had started playing a film through his ipad, audio was clear, at the same time we then plugged in his iphone to the aux socket in the centre console and when we started playing music it cut off the audio for the film that was visible on the nav screen.

(I have a Veba DVD system installed in the rear with screens in both headrests) any ideas where i might be able to get a similar thing to my mates for my nav screen with ipod and/or link in the Veba DVD player to the Nav screen as well?

Look on eBay for ads from specialist 'vehicle dismantlers' (as breakers pretentiously call themselves these days) find one that sells LR parts and give them a call about a used unit. All the good ones guarantee the parts they sell.

Sounds as if your mate may have the official LR 'Audio Connectivity Module' fitted that connects to iPod and shows tracks on screen and utilises steering wheel button controls but I'm not sure this thing plays video (confused). Anyway - it is stupidly expensive at over £200 so few people have one. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
